The Midas I posted earlier is your basic LFS special. Good fish or bad fish? : )

Well that question is a bit slanted and opens up a whole differant question due to the fact it's a Florida Farm midas and thus most likely a hybrid. So it is a good fish if you like hybrids, and a crappy fish if you don't ... and yes, I enjoy perching on the fence of that can of worms as I don't want to start a derail about hybrids. :grinno:

Show me one sentence where I accused you of anything. Although it does seem apparent what influenced you to start this thread. And please don't insult my intelligence by telling me otherwise. I have simply been having a civil discussion with Matt(which evidently took a turn from the original topic). How is it considered hawking if I'm simply stating my opinion, as well as a couple facts?

I didn't want to point fingers, but it is you who continues to indirectly question numerous fish that come out of **ponds. I guess it's more classy to say "someone in this room stinks" rather than to just be upfront. I'm not saying you are not entitled to your opinion, but you cannot get mad if there are people who disagree with you, and give argument. Yes, there have been rather nasty comments stated by both sides in the past, but to say I did anything but participate in your discussion is a lie.

If you would rather I not comment on your threads, just let me know, and I will refrain from commenting.

"Anyone noticed that the source (seller) of a cichlid seems to get as much publicity as the fish itself lately? It's as if there's some sort of additional value to the fish based on its seller. That's strange to me considering that many of the sellers are getting fish from the very same suppliers. Even the imported fish are often coming from the exact same exporter before being resold, under a "designer" label, in the US." Qoute:}

This must mean that your sick of people saying MY BLANK FISH FROM BLANK VENDOR Right? but understand people have been doing that with there fish that they brought from ** ** **.... But notice that you said lately...

PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR INITIAL POST: and stop derailing your own thread:nilly:

Nemesis, I just reread your posts here. You're right. I think I read something into your comments the first time that wasn't really there. It probably because I missed the comment about ** after you linked all those Rapps and ** threads. Sorry. Please accept my apology!

Since you've brought it up, in your last post, you said I continue to indirectly question ** fish. I have questioned some of ** fish in the past, and I've questioned some of the things he's posted on this forum. Unfortunately, it hasn't been a simple "ask a question and receive an answer" exercise with him or his seller ** as it has been with some other vendors on MFK. Most MFK vendors are available to answer questions and don't react defensively to a simple question. The quote you provided (post #42) is a good example of how most MFK vendors react to inquiries.

However, ** doesn't participate very often in the forum, and I can understand that. But the one time he answered me here he was completely untruthful (i.e. denying he supplied my LFS). I think I am justified in being suspicious after that experience. Also, his seller ** has refused to answer some very simple questions, even when an "I don't know, but I'll ask **" would suffice. When a fish that hasn't been collected in the wild for a long time is being offered for sale as wild, questions should be expected. They aren't accusations, they're fair questions. THEY SHOULD BE SEEN AS AN ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITY (i.e. wild dempseys finally collected!) rather than an insult.

Also, if I add my own experience with ** fish certain individuals get offended as if I've insulted THEM in some way. On the other hand, one forum member recently posted his disappointment in a Rapps fish, and no one got worked up in the subsequent discussion. I don't know where all the ** related defensiveness comes from, but I do know there are a couple of individuals who do him a serious disservice with their behavior in his defense (one of which has been banned, and the other which arguably should be). Perhaps they are the problem.

Again, sorry for misinterpreting your comments. Please continue to offer your opinions!

Do you ever Questions other Vendors Fish and there collection point's openly with Threads etc ... or is it Just ** and Fish Through him?

For me, it's been the lack of being able to answer simple questions. Have I questioned **s fish more than others? Probably... but, like anything, if you see some issues, you look deeper... and when I did...I had a lot more questions... which were also left mostly unanswered. Or answered with conjecture or worse (e.g. the infamous bucket of Vontehillo, tales of the magic pond)... It just doesn't leave me with a lot of faith.

As Chris states, vendors should view questions about the location or source of wild fish as an opportunity to demonstrate the goods. Not as an unreasonable request...

Matt

One thing that can be said about all the back and forth banter is that, since all this began, I've noticed a lot more collection points listed on vendor's lists. That can't be bad. A move in the right direction I suppose.

Making statements like "people post the source of their fish because they want to xxxxx" is, to put it nicely, insulting.

How do you know? How would you ever know?

So instead of making meaningless speculations for whatever purpose, why don't we all describe why we do or do not do it.

I include sources on all my first posts because the vendors deserve credit. Most of the time I get excellent fish and am grateful, and their deserved the publicity and hopefully more business. A few times I was not happy, and by posting the sources I hope they will get the act together.

I want to let people know who's selling what. I don't give a rat's as whether people think I have designer fish.

dude I agree. the fish is the main thing. The seller just gets the fish from somewhere and sell to you.
