beta-vhs gives no insight to this as that was decided by how much recording time was available, 1hr (beta) or 2hrs (vhs, which was able to stretch to 8hrs). HD-BR has only to do with red or blue laser and Java or HDi. Many titles produced the same way on both, take a wild guess... are the same thing.

This Bloomberg.com story reports that analysts are predicting massive financial losses for Sony for its last fiancial quarter, due in part to low sales of its Playstation 3 console. The analysts are now predicting a net quarterly loss of $630 million and Sony's game division is expected to be a large part of that loss, which would offset profits in Sony's other divisions. Sony will officially report its earnings on Wednesday.

Thats the real story here......Ps3 having having a blu-ray player is its only plus....As a gaming console it has nothing on the 360. The sales of both consoles worldwide proves 360's domination. WTF!? This thread was talking about Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD How the heck did this become a Console thread? I think it's great that the 360 is getting a External Blu-Ray. I have an online connection, I have a Wii, I have a PS3 but I don't use them online so saying that I can't afford a Blu-Ray player is just dumb. It's matter of choice.

Trust started this thread for one reason. This isn't about HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray to him its PS3 vs. 360. Its over trust, XBOX360 has won this console war hands down without having a High Definition dvd player of any kind included with the console. They made it an add-on for this very reason that the HD-DVD format might not last. Now like you said the Blu-ray attachment might be available in the future for the 360 but when it comes to gaming its a massacre.

oh yeah, that's right- you get the 1080p 4 disc set.
We get 5 discs.... but it's in bloody 1080i.

Not sure why the bbc has done it. You guys are lucky.

After the discussion I had with trust about all the cool collectible discs and crap you get compared to over here, it has made me lol.
