Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions about keeping any sort of dither fish with my 8.5" flowerhorn in my 90 gallon? Some sorta fish that he wont both, like a schooling fish possibly?

- Feedback welcomed!

I dunno about Flowerhorns but with Jack Dempsey's we usually use a few Giant Danios.

I was thinking something along the same lines as them as well...
I just really dont wanna risk putting something in there thats gonna end up a 5 star meal for him lol.

Good Luck....maybe some huge parrot fish. My old flowerhorn used to beat the snot out of everyone. He will eventually stress anything out. Of course this depends on the demeanor of your FH.

Exactly, its almost a hit or miss kinda deal lol.
I'm not too big into blood parrots. I used to own one and it was a hardy fish but it just didnt really show anything for me..

whats going on my fellow Marylander lol. i started a thread a few weeks ago pertaining to this same issue. what i like doing as far as dithers are concerned especially with larger cichlids is to use blue gill and sun fish i catch at local ponds with u being in MD they will not be hard to find. after a few weeks of quaritene they work excellent. do to the size and hardiness i think they r a perfect dither. i keep a 30g Rubbermaid bin with a school of them just for this reason they are easy to keep no heat needed and they eat just about anything just and air blubber and sponge filter and since they are schooling fish 2 or 3 used as dithers work perfect. once the pair have been formed take them out and keep them for next time.

Well my 90g is set at 81-82 degrees F. for my flowerhorn... So the natives are outta the question unfortunatley lol.
What yall think about silver dollars or congo tetras?

What's the point of dithers in a flowerhorn tank?

Just something else to give my tank "movement" if you catch my drift... I've seen it done and it really makes the tank... It's a shame he wont accept neon tetras lol.
