Sorry I haven't posted anything ran into some pump problems the pump I had is no good. Had to get a new one online lol. In 4-5 days I will post the tank full with water and k1 media plus the 2 new 2450 gph WaveMaker.

I'm pretty disappointed at this point

k1 and lava rock are the bio filter,, how do you plan on setting up the wool? i ask about the drain because i have mine set up the same way, lost power and even with the 1 inch drain it could not handle all that water at once and the barrels over flowed. my barrels are outside so i planned on if that happened it wouldnt be a big deal. another point is that when the barrels overflowed most of my k1 came out also so i am in the process of building some sort of net on top to prevent this from happening again... just think, you have (1) 1 inch drain but you will have (3) 1 in pipes feeding that barrel.. not knocking you just trying to help with the issues i have noticed on my build. (the link is in my sig.) btw here is my filter set up.

Hey man can you send me a pic of the right way to setup the air line for the barrel on the k1 ? Or just post it need some help. I feel like I'm doing it wrong lol. If you can show me a pic of the inside on how to put the air line thanx. That would be awesome.

I have an ap60 it has a 14 line output diffuser, just run a 3/4" clear hose to the bottom of the barrel and attach the diffuser to the end and zip tie a brick to it to hold it to the bottom. I also had problems but after reading the directions that came with my pump I found this out

i do not have any pics of that but what i did was that i bought an 8 way line output and put 2 lines to my barrel and 2 to the tank. i have an ap100. the tank side i have 2 air stones and the barrel side i made 2 bubbler wands and used zip ties to hold them to a rock.

heres a link to the valve.. you also have to make a step down from the 3/4" or 1" port on the air pump down to the diffuser.

These are just .99 cent tubes for sprinkler systems that I drilled holes into. Also the k1 won't look like it's moving correctly until it starts to get some bacteria on it

Whats the material made out of? I might do this as a DIY project for a different tank. Why was this used instead of pvc just curious?


I love this build btw anxious to see it all done and ready and also like someone mentioned do a scenario where you lose power to see if barrels overflow and what not. You can always make a DIY overflow in the barrel leading to a drain just incase if you don't want to mess around with sizing bulkheads and what not and tubes.

This will not fit the ap100 directly. You need to step down to the size needed for the diffuser. I will try to get a pic when I get home.


I believe it's the black pvc type. If you go to any big box store it's in the sprinkler section
