DIY Economic pond :)

I would think that 900 gph should be good for your setup.

2 X Turnover is great, more is better.

Don't know the GPH on the filter, so that will determine the pump used.
If you have another pump (Mag 11) not doing anything, why not a additional fiter? DIY of course, filled with media for BB since no substrate.

Get those little fish some shelter..... Flower pots are good temp. homes.
Look in the Farm and Garden section of Craigslist for rocks, gravel, etc.

I plan on getting about 4 bags of pea gravel next weekend and a few large flower pots and then ill start buying some plants and more fish I wouldn't mind using the other 1100 but my wife wants a waterfall..... And idea how to make a diy filter water fall?

A tub w/a inlet in the bottom and a lip cut up top will make a waterfall. Fill the tub w/Hyacinth and/or Lettuce and you've got a waterfall filter.

as far as rocks go to put around the pond, check out your local quarry. I got rocks at mine for free. Good looking ones too. Of coarse I knew a guy who knew a guy and thats how the rocks were comped but it will still be cheaper than going to a garden shop or something like that.

yeah ponds don't need anywhere near the amount of turnover that aquariums do. typical aquarium you want 4x or higher. well planted ponds only need 1/2x per hour or greater. so 900 for his pond would be perfect.

You would have been fired if you were a manual laborer and it took you 2 hours to dig that little hole! All kidding aside, I wish I had a yard to put in a pond!
