AGREED think about it.. all it does by snitchin is add gas to the fire!

It all depends on your perspective. In my teens and 20s I never would have thought of snitching. Just wait til you have kids and are trying to teach and reinforce what's right and what's wrong. All you need to hear is "Daddy, I thought that was not allowed" and your tune changes instantly. It's either walk the talk or don't be surprised if certain younguns start believing that anyone can make changes to what's right and wrong or legal and illegal to suit their immediate mood. If one law or morality can be changed to suit what's immediately gratifying then, why not another...and another?

I've got a shirt that says snitches get stitches. I thought it was appropriate. I do agree, there is a time and place for everything.

I really think it depends on what it is your snitching about. No I am not gonna go snitch cuse you have an illegal fish. Say a LFS has sturgeon or something and your an animal rights person and you feel that b/c this guy is selling them and they are illegal and they came from the wild
(just and example - so dont take it so serious), would you want to stop it? Or would you rather them just keep fishing them out and selling them at the lfs just so they can be sold to what would prob. be a large amount of people who prob. cant properly care for them and would kill them anyways. Or would you rather do something about it and try to stop them so they cant get the fish anymore and stop destroying the population? Yes they might take the fish in the shop but its a small price to pay to save the larger population. It really depends. I prob. wont snitch in that situation either but other might because they feel its the right thing to do. I can respect that even though they are snitching becuase I understand why. It might be a bad example or I might explain myself odd but w/e.

I really have to agree with oddball here, the unfortunit thing here is that laws are firm, we are not governed by princaples. Even though we may take care of our fish and not release them to the wild, there are 10 more people behind us that are irresponsible and do that very thing. To be honest its a hard thing to say this is illegel (I wish we had a spell checker here) to keep this fish but because I like it, and its avalaible for me to purchase and I will give it the right home and care, it is still wrong to have and the stores themselfs should not have them in the first place. I am not sure how much sense I am making but again the law is the law, but principal is much easier to deal with.

I worked for a company that built koi ponds and did an amazing job at building them, but I was always appaled at the advice and practice that they would take gold fish after breeding like crazy in the ponds and go and release them into lake Ontario. And would encourage their clientel to do the same. I always told them it was wrong and would advice them on bringing them to a store to be sold as feeders. They pissed me off way too much.

the laws that do exist are in place for good reasons even if we don't agree with them and hence we pay good taxes to have people enforce theses laws they very seldom go after the small person and are not concerned with them but however do take actions against the big fish .IMO snitches cause more problems and should just mind their own business and let the chips fall as they may just my 2 cents.

no, as long as the fish is properly cared for, I don't give a shat.

Important things are crimes like murder and burglary. someone keeping a fish that they shouldn't is not cause for alarm IMO, as long as he is properly caring for it and not breeding them or trying to distribute them.

There in lies the problem...Proper care & feeding, not breeding and no release.

Point of order: Snakeheads... were released into the wild...By a food market, not even a poor aquarist.

The Laws are not just for us, they're for everyone.

I don't want someone ruining the trade because of their stupidity, ineptitude and bloated ego's.

I'm all for licensing and certification. If I'm going to care for these specialty fish, I have no qualms about proving I can do so. Been there, Done that...wore out the t-shirt.

End of snitching problem.

And Oddball :iagree: .
