Gr8, I'm, being made redundant for the third time in April. At the exact same time as my wife's work is being merged, for the first time in my life I'm worried about work and income, normally something turns up, this time I'm not so sure.

Never lived pay check to pay check, always saved, it will keep the household afloat with savings for about 3 maybe 4 months.

'and if the band your in starts playing different tunes...'

I have no job. I cannot find one for the life of me. My car finally died and I'm almost out of money.
I'm one week away from selling everything I own and sneaking onto a boat, Bruce Wayne style, to a foreign country.
I just want to get away. You can only keep your chin up for so long until all hope is lost.

Think about it like this, what if the economy got so bad you couldnt even sell your toys. I work in the auto industry and Ive watched it over the past few years and watched a steady decline in business. People just arent spending money.
I read a book about getting out of debt "Total money makeover" by Dave Ramsey, and its changed the way i spend and save money. Highly recommended.

Im paying off my CC's and putting some money away.

I live check to check because I dump as much as possible into a 403b............which sucks right now. I would have been better off keeping that money and investing it later......but too late now.

i just got a job so things are looking a little better.. have alot of mouths to feed.. and vet bills from time to time so this will help get us by a little easier.. live paycheck to paycheck but always try to put some away.. for those lean times..

I do not live paycheck to paycheck. My savings are alright as for now, and If I lost my job I will be good because I live with my parents still. :D
I am also very very bad with money....

we live p2p, and due to the economy/lack of work we scrounge change the last 2 days of the week every week lately. no savings whatsoever. i work to support a family of four, as it makes no sence to me to send the wife to work so that we can pay someone else to raise our kids for $500 a week. we get by and are happy though.

we wouldnt last a week without a paycheck though. we have a very supportive family during rough times if needed.
