Do you look down on the Nemo and Dory people?

I don't mind it, usually. It's when then come into the shop or aquarium and scream "Nemo" at everything the even resembles a clownfish. It gives me massive headaches rather quickly. Last time it happened I couldn't help but look at the kid and say, "Last time I checked Nemo made it back to the ocean, in Australia. Shows how much you were paying attention." in as calm a voice as I could. He got very quiet very fast. It bothers me even more when someone calls my anemone and clownfish sculpture "Nemo". It has a title, address it as such.

I've heard way to many kids refer to discus as "Dory".

Speaking to a child like in the LFS I managed would have resulted in you being sent home, receiving a written warning and a severe cut in your hours. If you were a new employee, I'd fire you outright.

If you were a customer, I'd ask you to leave and not come back...absolutely disgusting behaviour and I seriously hope that was just BS you fabricated for the forum.

On a more interesting note, I find it rather curious that a movie about the horrors of keeping fish in captivity has vastly increased the capture of clownfish....moral-of-the-story fail.

Might sound a little mean, but I thought it was funny, lol.

Wow, pretty harsh. I would never speak to a kid like that over something so arbitrary. Wouldn't you have been humiliated if he ran and told his dad?

In ones heart of hearts, you gotta love the smiles on those little faces when they recall something they seen, be it a movie or whatever, and they relate it to something in real life. The imaginations of the little ones are priceless!...;)

great thread OP... KUDOS

Thank you. I have enjoyed the different points of view and the civil debate. But the thread seams to be taking that inevitable turn.....

It's annoying, but call it what you want. Take the fish home, put it in your goldfish bowl. Don't come crying to me when it dies in the next 5 minutes.

I apologized shortly afterwards to both the kid and the parent. I don't work at that shop either, it's gone downhill in the past few years. If you perceived sound as I do, you'd understand. A small child screaming looks like someone ripping their ribcage open with their bare hands. Synesthesia has it's draw backs, and that example is a big one.
