Do You Really Know What You Are Buying?

Pretty sad situation considering the $$$ that you dropped for that "pair".
Doesn't look like photoshop to me, just some major red/pink lighting & dark pixelated sloppy photos & vid. Also, in SE Asia a lot of people use hormones, or substances such as Carophyll Pink to enhance red color, so that is another possibility. Not pointing fingers at Pat, just sayin ....

I've seen imported RT's that were blood red, and 30 days later looked pretty much how your female now looks. LFS wasn't too impressed, neither was his customer who later asked for his $500 back.

With a 4 month lapse between original photos & vid, a lot can change with regards to pearl patterns, color, etc. Ditto to the black blotches/dots, in 4 months that black can completely disappear on a red tex. As far as that goes they can disappear overnight, and reappear when the fish is stressed. I was looking more closely at the patterns on its face/head. Some things just didn't match up, but again hard to tell with 4 months between pics, and poor quality images.

Sorry this happened, tough pill to swallow I'm sure.

Agreed, its more likely the female was fed color enhancing food, possibly with hormones, and thats partially why its not as red.

Have they always been in that tank or have they had their own at one point.

previously posted .......

RD, Ive tried everything to get them too breed inc by themselves in own tank but no luck so far.

i tried the local thing, especially by me not being educated at all when purchasing my first so called flowerhorns, he never told me what type i had, one turned out to be a female trimac (which i love to death) but that was not what i wanted to purchase, the other is a low grade fh but i really dont know what she truly is, so i decided to go with a reputable dealer recommended on this forum for a good grade male fh. I know exactly what i have there is no question about it. its not good to have a fish in your tank and you really dont know what it is, thats not what this is all about, you should know exactly what you have in your tank, this is not a guessing game, IMHOP...

PS the fish was shipped beautifully, with as less stress as possible and i got exactly what i asked for, i was given over 15 pics to choose from, the price was good and i dont feel like i was HAD... im very happy and will continue to deal with this person from now on.

For slits and giggles.

ahh good thread n I experienced this myself and here was the pic advertised from Rainybettas aquabid listing

Here is what they look like now.Was expecting the deep red colour but its more of a pink colour than anything and also it has wayyyyy more white in it than it does in the photoshop pic Pat used to sell it as on aquabid.Plus totally different shape of body.

Have you posted this pic before? This is the first time I've been in this thread, but I recall a member selling fry from this pair. Huh?.....might just be me.

Aye posted pics b4 in my 4+month wait transhipping thread and was expecting to post some fry for free to a couple m8s on this forum but nae luck at all.

Just to confirm its now 9months and the srts still havent bred and female hasnt laid any eggs at all. Sent another email to Pat and this was the reply after 3weeks wait:

Dear Sir,
I'm really sorry reply your email late.I don't know what's happened the both can't breed.I saw picture.
They ever got many babies at here before ship out.I think you will breed them finish soon.
Best Regad,
Pat

Aye right, that be the day they start breeding! Only 9months but yeah they will breed soon according to Pat LOL

Just a heads up to all dont buy breeding SRT pairs from Rainnybetta unless your willing to risk having a pair of fish unable too breed.

Im looking to sell the female SRT and male tex as Im past the point of expecting them too breed and not the fishs fault but a bad experience overall from tranship mess, breeding etc so anyone interested let me know,Cheers!
