DON'T buy Marineland Stealth Pro heaters!!!

same thing happened to mine. sounded like a gun shot went off in my plywood tank, the top blew right off and had a big crack in it. i e-mailed marineland and in about 2 weeks or so i got a replacement one from them free of charge.

My first one I left out of water while it was one so it split. The one I have now I don't have a problem with, have had it for about 5 months.

Thank you all for the heads up. I had a stealth for 2 years now and removed for safety precautions only. I kept hearing about the heaters exploding and cracking aquarium glass. I need 2 more heaters and almost bought more stealths but I saw this thread. I thought Marineland would have fixed the problems with the heaters I recently bought a Fluval (two weeks now) and it's working okay. I don't like the fact I can't completely submerge it but it does the job.

Since my Marineland filter failed, I went with a Penn Plax heater that I got for 15 bucks and I have had no issues with it at all. It's submersible and keeps the tank where it should be. Yet I paid like 35 for the Marineland one. I will buy more of the ones I currently have because I've had no issue with it after 7 months.

Wow, I had one of these in each of my tanks for a couple months and as it got cooler outside I noticed neither would heat the tank properly so I pulled them and returned them. I used to be a big fan of Marineland, at least with the Emp. 400, but ever since the redesign I have been disappointed there too. Marineland is severely lacking quality control - not just with the heaters. I spent two months in emailing to resolve filter issues, and although the customer care was nice, it took 5 shipments of products to fix it.

edit- notice the filter I have now - not the Emp. 400 (horrible noisy grinding impeller from new, never could fix it)

now that the Eheim Jagers are new and improved and even better than before, there is even less of a reason to buy a Stealth in the first place

i only did it cause it was for a 125 gallon tank and i had two of them in there so it was barely on but i guess not cause it cracked idk what happened all i know is i want my REFUND lol
