Dorm tank or no dorm tank...

Tihsho, Where did you go?

I am living in dorm with a bunch of reptiles.

I say... don't do it. It's stressful for me knowing who is at the door and what state they are in. I even took to looking before I exit, then right after I exit I close the door IMMEDIATELY. I don't let anyone, but the mature reptile keepers, into my room. This is without roommate either.

Seriously, I am looking for a new place to move out into soon as possible.

now by Dorm do you mean school provided accommodations or a rented house(or half a house) with your friends, if it is school provided how freaking big is your dorm that you can have space for a 125, and snake enclosures yet still retaining space for you and a roommate(even if you dont have a roommate where the heck would you put everything. Im not in college yet but ive seen quite a few first year's dorms and u can barely fit 2 people in there let alone the other animals. NOT to mention the logistics of it concerning the college rules. All of this including all the possible problems of keeping it running then moving it. go small 10 gal or 20 devote time to make it look amazing(plants or themed). Having a 125+snakes+roommate+small room=very annoyed people and tension through the roof. then theres the fact other students will say hey he has a zoo and start bringing in their own animals, once administration relises this they will put a stop to ALL, even yours, animals outside a size restriction this being an even larger pain for you. thats my rant off to school.

I was wondering the same thing. A dorm room is just as bout as big as a large closet.

Ok ok, more explaining to do...
The dorm is about 25 by 20 room for a double/triple and 25 by 12 or so for a single. The tank fits exactly underneath a bunk (I have been doing hella measuring.) As for two people I would be looking on rooming with they have respect for animals and peoples belongings overall. So I mean trusting them is not an issue. Space? Most dorms are small and the accomodations made by my colleges housing is great! But I did forget to mention I am in a small student bodied private college so space for students isn't a hard thing to get when there might be only 300 students that attend this school? and maybe only 40-50% that live on campus? But yeah, originally I measured out the space for a 220 o.O but obviously its outa the question. The overall size of the so called 'apartment' is about the size of a little over average condo.

But yeah, I think this will work.

I'd say do it if it's really what you want to do. Just realize that it takes work and that things do happen. I live off campus right now and never would have dreamed of having a tank in the dorm I lived in my freshman year. People were always stumbling into my room. Even now I often am nervous to leave for just a weekend.

I'm typing this from school. I have a 45 gal in my room, and I must say it is a pain during breaks and stuff (mainly winter break). Do what you want, but I say keep it small.

I would go with a smaller tank with smaller fish, so I could focus 100% on schoolwork..

LAME! Setup the tank, just dont be suprised when a drunken oaf pee,s poops or puts booze in your tank.

Set it up with SMALLER fish tho... they would survive together for about 2.5 nanoseconds.

....
When I get a single I don't plan on just leaving my door open 24/7 people. Plus friends I have over have tanks too so they have complete respect over that. As for breaks its not too big of a deal for me due to these reasons:
a) winter break I have to move out anyways
b) spring break/thanksgiving breaks I don't go too far and if I do parents are only 30-45 mins away anyways and my dad luvs to get outa the house, even when I asked him he said he had no problem.
