Sounds like it will be a pain in the ass especially if it is under your bed. How are you going to clean it? How are you going to get water into it? Moving fish is not as easy as it sounds trust me I had to move my 65 gallon.
I don't even live in a dorm I have a house and it was still a pain in the ass. Moving the tank took up about 10 hours even though I was only moving about an hour away. It will not be fun. My ten gallon was so much easier to move and it is a lot easier to clean.
You are being way too optimistic about what you want to do, either change the species you want or wait until you have a better setup. If you actually go through with this, personally, I feel it will be a very immature move and risky for your fish and your education. You seem to like being on the Dean's list and having a scholarship, once your classes get hard, are you willing to lose that for fishkeeping? Or losing your fish to keeping up with school work?
