Dorm tank or no dorm tank...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You are already doing better than I was in my dorm. I had a shotglass with a Betta in it.

So how often are you going to have to move this monster tank & disturb the fish?

2 times a year. But I'm looking at a 220 for at home so school tank is a grow out tank in a sense.

I would recommend against it, but you seem set on doing it. Here is my say for what its worth.

I got rid of my tanks before I started school even though I bought a house near the school. I wished many times while I was at school that I still had my tanks. I thought about setting one up during every break when I had a few extra minutes on my hands, but I was glad during the quarter that I didn't have to take care of one when I was out of the house for 10-15 hours a day every day.

I just finished school a few months ago, and I have a new 90 sitting on the patio ready to be set up in my new place. I'm glad I waited.

Unless you are in an easy program with no research, labs, job, internship, overseas study program, you have no friends or other obligations, and you are a serious insomniac, it will eat your time in some very unkind ways.

I think it's called--instant gratification. We're in the decade of: gotta have it now!

Its called satisfaction. Believe me, if it's inhumane or a high risk of the fish being at risk something will be done. So don't even think that I am putting my wants over their needs.

I would go with a 55 but its not deep enough for the species I am looking at.

Go with a 40 breeder. 18" wide and you can move it yourself. 1 Dope fish would do just fine.

So what giant fish are you considering?
