Feeding once a day....

I'm not basing, offending you but it's quite slow for a Dovii :) (if we are talking about Dovii, sorry I didn't read through all the pages), a Juv. Dovii 1 inch size should reach 12~14 inches in its first year.

Oh ok, could be the feeding tbh, I feed mine 3 times a day and more on weekends with a large variety of food. Hikari gold, nls growth, homemade 'brekkie' food (with bacon and egg, think that's why they love it lol), beefheart, bloodworms, feeders (home-bred convicts and guppies) and crickets.

Ingredients for the homemade Breakfast food are spinach, bacon, eggs (make sure they're raw otherwise they make a MASSIVE mess when feeding, I learnt the hard way), some hikari, some nls, water and broccoli. Blend it up and freeze it. It literally gives them the best colour and gives them good growth, they have it for breakfast every morning. Personally I think it's all because of the bacon but you never know

Some do, Andy woods cichlids uk Andy woods cichlids uk dovii is 16 inch and 3 years old, many others on here get a similar growth.
Have you grown one out personally pal?

I use hikari gold with odd silversides and prawns.
I also have 2 starve days a week.
At the current rate he will be adding 5" per year. My water comes out the tap at 40ppm remember and my tank is well stocked, maybe that has something to do with it...
Andy has said his tap water is virtually 0ppm and he has had similar growth, either way I'm happy if he is genetically smaller or he may even be a hybrid, look at that young fish on the first page, he doesn't even look like a dovii there lol...

It could just be a UK strain

How are yours doing pal, good growth?

He was just a wholesale fish, could've been through all sorts for all I know.

Yeah they're doing awesome, I found a pic the other day of the day I got them and they were actually 1.5 - 2cm/0.5 - 0.7 inches which was November 25th, now the biggest is pushing 12cm/4.5 inches. One jumped out because I left the lid off with feeders in there..... I have 2 that look like they're forming a pair and are around 9-10cm/4 inches and another small one, 3 inches. Must be the bacon

I did but I gave away mine Dovii recently due to it grow rate and being a psycho killer lol
it's only took me to get him from 1.5 inch to 12 inches less than a year...more like 10 months! I fed 3 times a day and 30% daily water change and pothos in sump using RO water so Nitrate always below 5ppm or hardly register (0ppm) in API test kit.
