Dovii or Umbee?

The only LFS I've been to that has dovii...actually has a grammode instead. A nice male, too, but I've got no room for it. They think its a dovii though.

Lol, at least grammodes are good looking fish :D

i think people confuse what the local pet store has with whats rare. most pet stores only get whats cheap or what they think sells fast. those stores may pass up something you want every time the order from a vender. its easy to pay 30 cent for jags instead of 3 dollors for umbees.

Great thread on sharing experiences! I had them both, love them both. To sum it up IME, dovii is outright aggressive whereas the umbee cruises the tank majestically. Both are very impressive as adults. As said before, the umbee seems to 'pose' for the camera.

If I had the room, I would set up two large tanks for both!!

Umbee is probably more rare to LFS but a Dovii is pretty common in there.
Everytime I go to 'Big Al's' in Edmonton I see Dovii's.
I wish they had more Vieja and Paratheraps variety.
Sometimes they get Black Belts and Sysnpilums.

In the SoCal "hotbed" you hardly ever see Dovii and never see Umbee. Actually, some of the only Dovii I have ever seen are the ones I traded in for credit.
