DOVII vs UMBEE - the ultimate battle!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thats right dont even try it.

Personally not having owned a umbee it seems to me you have to wait till they get to a much larger size to get the same wow factor as a Dovii as they seem to get their adult colors sooner. But I think that if push came to shove I'd say a fully grown umbee is nicer than a fully grown dovii. Getting some umbees along with CubanB... can't wait :]

Everyone is saying that a Dovii is much more attractive-not true it just takes an Umbee longer to honest young Umbees are ugly but once they reach 10 inches they are extremely beautiful fish!!!

bigs-I love your post-how many have actually owned a full grown Umbee?

Thanks mate, I've been a Dovii fan for a while but I'm not that bias just because I haven't owned a Umbee. Is their growth rate similar to Dovii?

my umbees grew alot slower than my dovii.
I am currently keeping both and they are 6-7"

Dovii- grows fast, aggressive from the start, begins to show colors early and not shy at all.

Umbee- grows slower, although not aggressive until larger, it is much more intolerant than the dovii as an adult. Very drab until larger, but when larger, much more coloration than the Dovii.

I think if you cannot wait, buy a Dovii. For those who can wait for an umbee, you will be rewarded.
Just what I gather from keeping both from fry til adult

finally an answer worthy of this thread. if you read my first ever post i asked to hear from people who've owned BOTH:eek:

getting my UMBEES tomorrow!!! it'll be sweeeeeeeet:headbang2

then i'll be able to answer this question once and for all by keeping both DOVII and UMBEE in solo tanks.:naughty:
