Dovii vs Umbee

Everything lists the Dovii as larger than the umbee, not the other way around.
The verified world record has the dovii as larger. As well as youtube having larger dovii than umbee on there. No Umbee will be as large as mels dovii.
Ofcourse they are very close in size, but dovii is larger.
Umbee world record is 24''
Dovii world record is 26''
Both verified
As well as the Dovii being almost 4lbs heavier.

The Umbee & Dovii are very close is size to really have a hard debate... However, in optimum conditions, the Umbee require a larger tank, because of them being open water swimmers...

While I do know that umbee are open water predators, I do not think they require any larger of a tank than a dovii. A dovii will not tolerate any tankmates in any size tank, obviously there are exceptions. They are extremely fast swimmers just like umbee, and they like to swim full speed from side to side of the tank. I think the same tank is required for both.

Nice fish! In my opinion, dovii like to kill while umbees want to eat! No comparison, they are both fantasical species. Wish I could own both. ;-/

O Umbee's certainly like to kill. Now they may not be quite as aggressive as a DOVII (nothing is) IMO, they certainly have a nasty streak in them. Ask MEL, he had a large umbee pair with a large festae pair in the same tank, until the umbee male snapped and killed both festae.

Mel's Umbee pair only killed the female I believe and the male survived. Afterwards Mel stuffed the tank with like 10 hericthys and they lasted till the umbees died from a nasty disease. I also believe that it wasn't until the Umbee got like 13-14" Mel was scared that the festae would kill the Umbee.

Either species has the ability yo grow over 24inch especially in the wild! I think there are more remote and undiscovered locations where Umbee reside that surley have 30 inch monsters! To be politically correct I would put both fish in the exact same size catagory. Its ok to be wrong sometime Pckts!!! :) Just my opinion!! Thanks

and yet the WORLD RECORD IN THE WILD for the umbee is 24'' and 3.5lbs lighter than the WORLD RECORD for dovii which was 26'' and 3.5lbs heavier. So to be fair, only 1 of them has the ability to grow larger than 24'' guess which one, THE DOVII. Until proven otherwise of course.
Now I ask you, which one is LARGER?
Sometimes, I wonder why people get so stubborn when they are wrong. You have been on this site for 7 months, its ok to be WRONG. Which, of course you are.

Fishman, you are right about the umbee killing the female and seriously beating up the male, I thought the male died for some reason but maybe not. To be fair as well, Festae certainly are nasty mothers as well. I loved Greenterra's festae that would constantly battle with his midas. Not to mention that giant jag he had that ruled them all. Man I miss that tank and his videos for that matter.

This is entertaining. Where are all the umbee cult followers going to start chanting "umbee power" lol.
Seriously who cares? Both are large and top on the aggressive list.
