Put him with a 9" Male Dovii and he will be put in his place instantly.........Nice hump....

So REC your telling us your dovii grew 5" in 5 days, thats got to be 1" a day. Holy Molly a world record for the fastest growing dovii in the world, tell us your secret....please......

i just read that thread and umm...lol. he probably said 9 inches to make the size between the rd and dovii equal. he never said his. the person had a 9" rd so he said put it with a 9" dovii to see what would happen...

maybe your right, Why cant REC just post a pic of his dovii beside something we can compare its size too, like soda cans, etc.. If he did have a 14" dovii for 13 months thats really impressive growth, maybe we can ask some tips on its diet and maintenance.
Its really important in this forum to post factual sizes of there fish, not fictional. Which will confused other people, especially new in the hobby.
Just my 2c.

From the size of those gravels, your fish is around 10" or less. Thanks for being so honest about your measurements. Now everyone will think they can grow a dovii 1" or more per month.:WHOA:

Thats cool and all, but seriously. Why cant people just give a measurment and be believed without people pulling out the BS card and wanting evidence.

I mean, yes, some people lie and SOMETIMES it extremely obviouse. But what he is saying is completely believable and why should you be so picky. I mean, the GRAVEL size???

COmmon! DOVII grow FAST
Fish CAN grow up to 1" or more per month. Depending on the fish and the environment. Why is that so hard to believe?

It's a fish forum for heavens sake...not an academic bible. It amazes me that I can still see a group of guys kibitzing and wanting to measure things to be factual. Wasn't that left in a junior high locker room.

Move on...

Don't be so insensiitive! They are still probably in the locker room measuring "things".;)

I grew my dovii's from 1-2" to 12" in 12 months in my 1000G. To grow them fast, you have to feed them real meat: frozen or fresh whole fish, shrimp, they will never reach their maximum growth rate with the diet of pellets. Since they were 8"-9" I actually only fed them once every two days. Had I fed them every day, they would have grown ever faster.

After they reached 12", I switched their food to pellets to control Nitrate level, they barely grew after almost 2 months. I am thinking about switching back to frozen fish. Food makes a huge difference. These fish should eat like there is no tomorrow if conditions are good (food, water, temperature and etc.).

Not saying that your statment isn't true carman. But, I really don't see how pellets wouldn't be as nutritious as real food. Pellets are designed in the first place to have every essential nutrient that the fish needs to grow. I just think at 12" the dovii's growth rate would start to slow down naturally is all.
