I actually encountered similar issues with Dr's F&S around christmas. My parents ordered me a python for christmas, wasn't labeled as backordered or anything. After a few days with no shipping confirmation, no contact or anything my mom calls and is told it won't be in until two days before christmas. She proceeded to throw a fit, as she ordered it a month beforehand to avoid this problem. She got them to upgrade to overnight shipping on christmas eve and knock off 10%. They also sent a $10 gift card.

I would call and tell them that you want it shipped overnight as soon as it comes in, because of their negligence or you'll cancel the order. You can make up a story as to it being a "gift" that needs to be here immediately, even though it's a gift for you and your fish.

not fish related, but i ordered a custom Baltimore Ravens jersey for an ex gf for her birthday a few years back and the 3-4 weeks ended up being 8-10 weeks, i had them knock off $150 dollars cause they made it and couldn't do anything with it because it was personalized. I just kept asking for supervisors and threatening to cancel the order and I got want I wanted. Good luck, i hope you get your lights soon!

You learn very quickly that if you call your order in they can tell you right then whether your items are ACTUALLY in stock or not.

The website stock information is based on inventory information? In otherwords, not accurate or up to date?

Sorry for you frustrations.

I guess that's why I've never had a problem. I always phone in the orders. I remember a few times them telling me when something was out of stock.

thats crap, i feel like it should be/is illegal to charge you to ship an item that was never shipped......

can you just have the credit card company stop payment? Thats what i would do, this is ridiculous, sorry you've got to deal with this crap, i can imagine how sour this is making you.
 
I don't think they can charge you shipping on something they never shipped. Call and ask to speak to a supervisor.

Wow, that's such crap. How can they not refund shipping on something that hasn't even been shipped yet? Everything before hand was just the annoyance of backorders and phone vs. internet ordering... but this, this is bad business. You don't refuse to refund shipping on something you haven't shipped.

Ah well... there's worse things, I guess.

honestly, this was honestly just complaining about being basically lied too..

spelling it out for the Dr. F&S defenders...

I ordered a HO T-5 light and a glass top...

then the things in the first post I wrote happened + the fact they actually sent me the glass top. So they did ship something... just the shipping wouldn't have been that high for just one item.

I read the first few replies (aka bderick) and called them. They offered to do nothing but refund the light but not the shipping... which was for both items.


Sorry for not including all the details. I was really just pissed about not being told it was on back order in the first place.

anything else anyone once to know.
