pretty much sums up my views as well. Excep that my fiancee get the X and get the old D1 :(

You know a lot of days I miss my D1 since it was easier to root and load roms, overclock, ect. I have yet to do anythign to the new X since I have not felt the need. A lot of the apps coming out now via the market or online tend to do a lot of the same things Roms used to.

Now a serious downside of Droid though is the bloatware that has started to come. I do not need the Blockbuster app on my phone but it is there unless I root and remove it from the phone.

you pay an arm and a leg for that and you lose out on a lot of internal power that a similar product in a pricepoint woudl give you. There is a significant premium because it is an Apple product.

case in point, the iPad. People buy these things like if it was the first tablet computer ever invented. They don't even realize that there are more powerful tablets out there. But of course, the flock of sheep just see the Apple logo and their wallets start pouring out money.

Exactly. She'll always telling me to root/hack her phone and I'm like, "Why?" Just add LauncherPro and the X is perfect out of the box, and runs circles around a ROMd/overclocked D1. The Motoblur crap is a little annoying, but nothing Launcherpro can't take care of ;)

jose flocks to these iphone and droid threads like that new life spectrum guy pops up on every NLS thread. hahahaha.

not knocking your knowledge or expertise in the area, it's just amusing cuz i know i'll always see you on these threads and him on nls threads

I dont mind the motoblur to be honest. I actually kind of enjoy it being linked to my social sites and such. It is just the prepackaged apps I could do without...

And things like VZW pushing VZNaviagtor to the droids when we have google maps. No need for that app which is completly inferior to google maps. Just a PITA but that is the carrier not the phones fault. Should iPhone come to Verizon it will have the same issues....

I have the original Droid and after seeing my friends iPhone i think the Droid is better.

Wait till you upgrade to the newer lines of Droids. Totally new world and good in every way except the locked bootloaders that need to be hacked.

haha what can I say, this stuff intrigues me. Not to mention gun stuff too :)

On another note, what do you guys think about the new Droid Pro? I personally don't like the look, but it seems as though Motorolo/Android is going after Blackberry/RIM. This is gonna be interesting

ATT > Verizon, that's even more laughable. Sure, on paper ATT has faster speeds, but what good is all that speed when their network coverage is terrible? The only thing keeping ATT live is the iPhone. Most of the time you never get the reception to realize the fast speeds. It's happens more times than I can count; when I have full service and my ATT friends have nothing but a dead signal.

I was with ATT back in 2001... had to switch service because I get no signals at home... almost 10 years later... there still that signal problem...
