EBJD bloat? (video)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
many time bloat is caused by constipation pellets eaten to fast etc i would always try epsom salt as a laxative first if it is blocked up epsom salt is what will work if it is bacterial then metro is not what i would use

Well I just woke up and saw the EBJD near the top of the tank in a corner...haven't ever found it like that before. But when I turned the lights on it went back down to where its been spending most of its time lately (same spot in the last video i posted).

i have my fingers and toes crossed for you... and my arowana that has not eaten in 6 weeks..

redose the epsom salt no you dont have to do a water change first do 3 tablespoons per 10 gal if by tonight or tomorrow it has not gone away i would dose with more meds if from the past few weeks you have seen white stringy poo then keep up the metro if not then i would go with an antibiotic for bacterial

I actually have seen clearish stringy poo before but it wasn't a regular occurrence so I didn't think much of it. But the last month or so the staple of their diet has been NLS Thera A 2mm pellets (which are a non-medicated anti-parasite food i believe). I was using it as a precaution (they got other foods too).

So you're saying I should re-dose the epsom salt without taking any out (through water changes) first? essentially doubling the current amount of epsom in the tank? Is there no danger to the other fish by putting this much salt in the tank? tankmates are silver dollars, another EBJD, and 4 plecos).

thanks for all the advice dwilder

edit: thanks Liz. goodluck w/ your aro!

thanks very much.. how is the EBJD doing now?

I'm worried...

It's fins do look kinda bad, particularly the tail, is that the start of fin rot? or just nips from the other ebjd?

Also, it looks like a few bumps are starting to develop on its left side, starting at the mid-section and going back toward the tail (it doesnt look like ich to me). Plus theres that white bump on the upper fin thats been there for a couple days now...what is that? how do i treat it?

I just took this video after Liz asked how its doing. It's been spending most of its time in this area of the tank just swimming in place, occasionally flashing and head shaking, but not alot...

i don't see any bumps.. but i do look at this fish and think it is in distress.. not only stomach swollen but it appears to be uncomfortable from it.. poor guy.. just hopefully in time it will work itself out..

Just added another 10 tablespoons (50g worth) of epsom salt, going to continue keeping a close eye on things and will add another 10-12 tablespoons in a few hours if all goes well.
