Thanks Calihawk :-) Everything you stated I'm doing, even BGxBG and the reason of doing so is,yes I have tank space and time so kind of little experiments.. But most of all I'm doing it for the EB's so I can gain knowledge... But yea I agree 100% with you if your trying to breed for EBs or golds or platinums than yes do it the easy way with high percentages. Thanks for sharing your opinion with us,as always good stuff for newbies..

Your going through all them motions to gain knowledge!? You can gain the knowledge from reading and asking questions. Now I understand that you can't take everybodies info and consider it true, but you can learn. To each their own... Good luck man. I treat my fish like a part time job... If I'm going to put time into growing babies out then they better be something unique and will sell. That's why I'll stick to what I know. Lol

Well damn! Thank you Noodlez... That chart helps me stray away from going the jd route even more! Lol Oh and I like your sig... Now I have a better understanding of why you do what you do! Lol

Lol... No prob... Believe me I read all day,but I'm one of those people that have to see the food being cooked before I eat it...lol and beside what's wrong with watching an experiment while the EB's,Golds and Platinums grow out... Guess its my curiosity, when I bred dogs I knew what the bloodline was but still had to see what pops up when you do different breeding a with in the same line... So I knew what I was looking for to use as a standard of the line I was working with.... Anyway glad I could help and learn some today... Thanks again to all who passed on the knowledge of their experiences and opinions... Thanks on the sig it's what makes you wise.. So you must obtain it...

You are absolutely right. I bred some marbled convicts and got a and got white one with white bars. I have a pair of texas cichlids that threw a short body. So I understand how breeding pure fish can basically throw slight "mutations" of the fish. Then "we" run with the mutations and try to keep creating them. With that being said... kuddos the humans that put that amazing JD chart together!

What would happen if you bred bg x reg, then bred those fry back to the bg parent? Would you get some eb

And the male and female blue genes for $40 is just male and female at 4-5" that have grown up together but not spawned yet.

There's basically a 25% chance that you'd get EBJDs. And that's assuming you know whom the BG parent is.

You are welcome. We are all on the same quest for knowledge. The truth is out there!

I just want to say thank you again. Basically you have the results of all possible genes of Jack Dempsey's. From my understanding platinum is not albino... So where is that albino gene at and does it show up within every color morph?
