I agree that it's a male, and also with the Stanzzzz7 on the nuchal hump.

I've never kept a male that got to much of a nuchal hump. I've always kept one male per tank due to aggression. To my excitement to find one at my LFS showing one at only 4", it soon disappeared after I got him home. He was in a tank full of male and female rivulatus which explains the nuchal hump being a male dominance thing for me, but that's just my experience. It may also have a lot to do with genetics, and I just haven't got very lucky.

I have had females develop nuchal humps during spawning though interesting enough.

So this is a question that is begging to be asked:

What size tank do you need to maintain multiple male GT's (male only & mixed)?

Stanzzz: that female with the beginnings of a nuchal hump, was she part of your harem tank? Was she the dominant female?

Would not surprise me in the least if the nuchal hump was tied to dominance regardless of fishes gender. (Keeping in mind that males will usually get a larger hump than a female).

Yes she was part of the harem.
To be honest all five females developed humps, some more so than others.

These below are females with pronounced heads

Once again male and female for comparison

In the photo above the pair are approximately 2years old, male around 9 maybe 10inches.

Here are the group much younger at around 3 inch. You can pick out the male by his overall brighter colouration.

If you look very closely, on at least one picture you can see the males sex organ starting to protrude.

Got home and took a closer look at the fish in question, he definitely has what looks like his tube slightly exposed (also got to watch him poop last night, nice healthy stool:oops: lol). Didn't happen to notice any females with their tube down, but there were some that are extremely dark in color and looking rather chunky or full. I was more focused on getting a good look at the male. Stanz, I'm still impressed that you saw it in a crappy picture on here, but thank you lol I'm now certain it's a male

It's not that I have really good eye sight or anything it's just one of those things I look for if sexing is a little difficult. It can sometimes help give you an answer.

that's something I'm going to have to keep in mind from here on out when helping others, thanks! And I'm really hoping you're right about the eggs, bc right now my male Midas isn't taking to his new female too well although both tubes are down and it's aggravating me  lol
