But you ask the same questions even though they have been answered already... The Eheim is about the easiest canister to understand, and if you follow the instructions LAID out to you, it'll work as advertised.
The 'pillow batting' that you added is in the wrong place, it needs to POLISH the water, meaning it is the LAST media in the stack, change it. I am newish too (under a year of actual knowledgeable fishkeeping-hence my sig...), but I have followed the advice of others and read the instructions on my Cascade filter and it does filter as advertised...Yes I have 'modded' it to get the absolute best performance I can out of it, but I asked first to see what others have done and followed their lead. My canister has probably been on the market for years, but it is new TO ME, not to alot of other people. I am all about the research, but eventually I have come to my own conclusions and followed through with a thought.
Let's see some follow through and progression of knowledge, that's why everyone is ragging on you. 4750 posts and you don't know the basic function of a canister filter...That's not progression.

That is where online research comes in ... Google it first. I have gotten about 95% of my fish knowledge from Google, it usually points to a thread on here... I have built a custom mega filter already, and I am probably reversing the flow through it to mimic the Eheim design...
Just saying that most people will help to a point, when they find out that there are multiple postings about the same question and you do something completely contradictory to what they say, they will stop helping you...Your learning this lesson now it looks like.
