and you think having a new filter running for 4yrs is a good thing come back when they have been running for 15yrs+
you will hit on anything wont you? YOU thought the filter would never last past a year. I remember that heated argument on fishforums.net. His has lasted 4 years. Mine has lasted over a year. May have had these for over a year without any issues.
have fluval got a new type fx5 I WOUNDER WHY
I spoke to Hagen about this a while back. There was no "new" type of filter. The handles on the valves are all that has been changed.
6 liters of bio media is A LOT compaired to most filters on the market. The amount of media is not the issue here, its the velocity and contact time. Ehiem has a velocity of .168 inches per secound (VERY ROUGH CALC. I don't know the actual dimentions) where as the Fx5 as 1.5 inches per second. Velocity and Contact time can't be mixed up to be the same.and its not all about flow rates its about the amount of media and the contact time the water has with it
The Fx5 still removed the same amount of ammonia the Eheim 2080 did. Cycle time is not as important as the nitrification cycle after the filter is cycled. The Eheim did beat the Fx5 in cycle time, but the fx5 still did remove the same amount of ammonia given which means the Fx5 is still in the running.
The Fx5 is not a bad design. Its not the "Best" design the Hagen could have used.the fx5 is a bad design thats why people are having to mod them because they are not happy
BTW, my Fx5 dominates your Ehiem 2080. Sorry, Your Eheim just can't stand up to a modded Fx5.
We don't you stop with this BS since you ruin every thread. Grow up. You act like a child.
