Thats an awesome DIY setup for a lid and I was just saying that it can crash it yes a little far fetched but I know some people who don't know too much about fish do some crazy stuff.

I use pexiglass because I'm cheap lol

You can actually use any thin plastic....the egg crate really does keep the plastic from curling. I even use the thin plastic light box diffuser panels....easy to score and cut, cheap.

i have locally glass store that i can tell them the measurement of lids i want and fairly cheap.. just google you local area for glass stores.. 32 x 18 x 1/4" thick glass lid cost me like 8$ then i bring it home and get my glass hole saw and drill out hole for plumbing and notches for wires in and out of tank and sump..covering all will trap heat...and No such thing as fish cant breath or crash the Nitrogen cycle..you can't have your tank air tight... or sump tight..
