Is it normal for month old cichlid fries to have red bodies/bellies? My fries are very red, just wondering if that's typical, or if the Ellioti's redness is showing.

Do you feed them live BBS?

@gutted: No, I feed them crushed Wardley Advanced Nutrition Pellets and crushed Hikari Cichlid Gold Pellets.

Day 43 - Not the biggest one, but this one has a weird pattern that is shared with a bunch of others (most in fact) - the bars doesn't actually reach the dorsal fin - it kinda just reaches the midline. Not entirely sure if that's something seen in Convict fries (as I've never actually breed any cichlids before), or if it's something specific to this hybrid. Will keep an eye on it and will see.

Also a few are getting iridescence on their body. Not entirely sure if it's normal for fries (again, never breed cichlids) so don't know if that's Ellioti traits coming through, or just typicalness of cichlids. Will see.
