Email to my friend from school regarding Goldfish he won

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, if your friend gets the 180 gallon ($90!), help him pick out some real fish and use the goldfish as a feeder!

Realistically all he would need is a 55 gallon. Yea the goldfish get big but it isn't very likely in a home aquarium. That one you pictured was probably raised outside in a pond.

If he stil has three from last year he is taking good care of them. The local carnie fest brings out all the trash bags by me. This year, Shubunkins were given out. My cousin called to see if I had an extra tank. She said here daughter won one, and when then went to 3 LFS, they were all sold out of goldfish bowls and 2.5 and 5 gal. tanks.

A free carnival goldie is a common way to start in the hobby, telling him to run right out and get a 180 is a bit extreme. If he keeps it and learns a bit hopefully future purchases will be made after some research.

Oh and Ill take 10 of those 180g tanks for $90 as well

All take one of those too. And make the 180 for $90 down to an order of three.

Wrong - I have a 4 year old goldfish that began as a carnival prize. He has been raised inside on plain old pellets and greens. At four years old he is 16 inches long and still growing. He's no anomaly - I have a three year old common feeder that is 15 inches. I just bought a 120 gallon for them, as they outgrew the 60 gal. Commons and comets can easily reach 20 inches.

These are the two I mentioned:
