Enough is Enough

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So when's the first AA meeting (aquatic addiction)

Most of my stock list was acquired over the last 6 months. :nilly:
And that's a lot of fish and supplies!

Yeah, it has hit me hard too - Triply so, because lungfish cannot be housed together (except for South Americans) which means.... never mind - YOU do the math. I have about 2 dozen Africans...

Glad to see that I'm not the only one with this problem. Sometimes I think that joining this forum would fill my monster fish needs, but it just makes it worst. My problem is that when I do buy a fish, it's not a fish that gets 6" to 8" It's usually a little monster that'll be a big monster. I just got a Black Ghost Knife, a Sailfin Pleco, and a Lemon Spot Pleco. :D :irked: :D

If you keep fish that can't live with others... then the next time you go to the LFS, you would be like "Damn, I can't keep it unless I buy that new 300g tank." You go over to look at the 300g tanks' prices and you get a heart attack.

we should have a special section on MFK named.. "check in here before you buy"... "let us help you make the right choice".. "lets talk about it".. "Are you absolutely sure you want it" "Are you insane"... or something along those lines.. it just might help..:)

Thats because when we are at the LFS we lose all our inhibitions...forgetting that there are all those hungary mouths to feed back home.. say to our selves "whats a few More".. a few more this week, then a few more next week.. the only way to avoid this is too stay out of the LFS..now that is a tough one..:nilly:

Try that when you work in a store.

I do that all the time. I look at fish then I go look at some big tanks. Hopefully, in 5 years after I pay off my car and credit cards, I rack up another couple of payments for a 300g tank with all the fixin's and a 60" flat screen. :headbang2

Hi, my name is Mark, aka FISH HEAD )'>, and I'm an Aquaholic.

Join the MFK 12 step program.
If you are reading this, you already know you have a problem.
These are the Twelve Steps as defined by Aquaholics Anonymous:
1. We admitted we were powerless over fresh and salt water (or even brackish) —that our lives had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. (MFK)
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of fish.
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of our fish tanks.
5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs, rights, mistakes and of our great looking tanks.
6. Were entirely ready to remove ammonia and nitrates with regular water changes.
7. Humbly remove bad tank decor.
8. Made a list of all fish we had housed, and became willing to make shrines to them.
9. Made direct amends to people wherever possible, except when fighting for that rare mistagged fish at the LFS.
10. Continue to take fish inventory even though you did it 4 hours ago.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our fish tanks, praying for knowledge and the money to carry that out.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to aquaholics, and to practice these principles in all our fish affairs and to spread the addiction of that which we call: the hobby of fish keeping.:naughty:

*this twelve-step program has been modified, in jest, from those of Alcoholics Anonymous. I realize the seriousness of addiction and by no means am I trying belittle that fact. And I applaud those who are winning the struggle on a day to day basis. :clap -Mark

Uhm,

Right now I have 2 125's and a 100 in my tiny living room (threw away the couch to make room for the other 125) then I got a Sailfin Gibby. Then I went and priced the 300's. You're right, had a minor cerebral hemmorage in the store.

HOWEVER, I got over it and am now in this stage:

"Well, if I enclose my carport and make it into a dining room, I can fit all three living room tanks AND the 240 gal waiting to be filled in there and have room for a new 300 AND a small couch."

I've gone so far as to get the paperwork from the city for the building permits and finding the builder and the electrician.

MInd you, my office is now a fishroom as well---Oh, AND I have three tanks in the bedroom--and well, EVERYWHERE.

I've got it BAAAAD.

Hello.
My name is Alexis, and I'm an Aquaholic.:screwy: :screwy:
