That's strange mine are very active and outgoing.
I have been very disappointed with german blue ram cichlids. They were one of my favorites. They just die. For no reason. I thought it my just be because they were from petsmart. So I special ordered a few from my lfs. They even quarantined them for 2 weeks before I took them home. They did excellent for a few months and strangely died. I drove down to milwaukee to Hoffer's and paid $30 for a breeding pair of german blue rams. They too also expired after a few months. Tank parameters were fine. Filtration was good. Plants were flourishing, the bolivian rams were spawning, my angelfish were beautiful. But the german rams just died.
People have theorized that they have short life expectancies from being selectively bred for their coloration. Many dont get their distinct coloration until they are older, maybe this is part of it.
I just stick with bolivian rams now
