Working with animals is great. I do the same at PETSMART when I'm not doing the Marine Corps thing. Just remember some of the people that you come across at work will be in the TSTL (http://www.darwinawards.com/) category and giving them proper customer service can be a very trying task.

I will just offer to show them "The back room" where bad things are known to happen. LOL

The only negative: we don't carry Seachem. I have to get my Purigen and Prime from some other store.

I will say the new schedule is trying. I woke up at 6:00am, was at my first job at 7:00am, worked until 5:15pm with no break, drove straight to the lfs, and was home at 10:30. Acclimated the new fish, did laundry, and I will be in bed at midnight and get up at 6:00 again. I also start school this summer. I'll never get any "overnight female company" again.

Just wait as working at a lfs sucks the fun out of the hobby for you. Slowly at first.

The people that work at the lfs that I work at average 5 years. The pay is nothing. The discounts are awesome. I can imagine that some fish stores can make you crazy, but I have been buying from this one for a long time. I spend hours there. I have always wanted to cherry-pick their incoming stock, net my own fish, and make suggestions when I am there. Now I get all those things, plus get paid, plus that discount is outstanding. I only work there part time. Compared to my regular job, this is like an amusement park.

One thing that keeps me going is have fun, I don't get paid nearly enough to stay there if I didn't enjoy what I did =p

at least you work at the WOF so i don't think you'll have to worry about dealing with a lot of beginners, or at least not as many as come to places like petco. Even if you do they are different just for going to the WOF instead of places like petco and petsmart, so they will probably actually listen to you and not tell you that you need tharapy for caring about a fish like the dumb people i get to talk.

plus i go there once in a while so you can answer my questions.

I remember working in a pet shop and I worked in the fish department. It was fun, but sadly enough...it didn't pay the bills and after I asked the owners if I can get a raise...their reply was "What do you need money for?!" So that was that and I left shortly after.
