There are so many idiots in the world......
One of my friends wanted to keep some salamanders he caught and i said "what are you feeding them?"
he says, "what do you mean? I dont have to feed them."

When I worked at Pet Supermarket, I had quite a few customers come to buy bettas and told me that they are putting them in a vase with a plant...and when I asked basic questions like how will you go about doing water changes in such a setup, they of course told me things like, "what do you mean water changes, I just add water when it is running out".

I also noticed a lot of people with 8 goldfish in a 20 gallon with the same water change philosophy. "just top it off...and once a year or so, fish will start dying or water gets cloudy, so we put them in a bucket and rinse that gravel real good and everything is nice and clean". Ironically these people always say it is a mystery why the fish die like that

People like this irritate me so much, i dont mind if they are prepaired to learn from these situations but a lot of people are ignorant of the situation and think it will be ok.

What really annoys me is the people who come in talking about fish "mysteriously dying" or not living longer than a few months. I ask them how they care for the tank and get descriptions as mentioned above. I explain to them what is wrong with their methods and they respond with "that's how I've done it for 20 years without any problems". ?????? :screwy: How is fish living 1/10 of their normal lifespan not a problem?

Willful ignorance! Ill-logic! Inability to recognize consensual reality! America!

The one that really pissed me off was that there was this lady that I guess had won some goldfish from a fair or whatever. She claimed she had them in a bucket with an airstone, and the water was discolored, and that they were all dying. When my manager told her that those living conditions seemed atrotious the lady retorted with, "Well the guppies in there are still living!".

What an idiot!

Had a customer today who completely ruined my good mood :(

He had been in twice in the week wanting fish for a newly setup tank (around 2 wks) and a few days prior he had his water tested and had new tank syndrome and was given some crap out of one of our filters to help to try and seed his filtration system. and he wanted some fish, so i explained that i would only take a few as his tank and water paramtetres seemed to have settled and stabilised as i wouldnt want to risk problems.

So i bag up 4 swordtails like he wanted and then he wanted to add more and i explained that id just leave it at the 4 for today and he was like nah it will be fine, it will be on my hands anyway so i end up bagging up some more fish, he just completly ignored all of the my suggestions and advice. :(

I hate it when people are like that.
If water is discolored by anything besides driftwood tannins theres a problem.

Bogwoodbruce has anyoe ever come back into the store and said "you were right, my fish died..."?
