Chica points to a Coral Banded Shrimp. Asks if it's a shrimp. Sure is. She says....wow, I can't believe people eat those.

Another guy came in moaning that his Coral Banded Shrimp died within 3 hours. I am 90% sure he brought me the shedded skin, and the shrimp is still in his tank. Nonetheless, we have a no guarantee, NO EXCEPTIONS, rule on the salts... he states he has bought 10 fish from us, all did great, but since I won't give him his money back for the $10 shrimp he won't buy from us again. Uhh 10/11 is pretty good bud (if the shrimp even died)...good luck buying from Petco.

Another lady was asking a coworker what kind of lizard can be kept in a 3g betta bowl (was more or less hoping an iguana would work...). :irked:

Guy wants to know why is brandy new air pump won't work...he brought it to me, it was still wet-ish. Yes he put it IN the tank.

Another guy a few days ago wanted to know why the filter he bought won't work. Brought it in to me. I fill it with water on a bucket to test it. He goes ohhhh...you have to fill it with water first?

^ I'm surprised the guy didn't electrocute himself to death putting the air pump INSIDE his tank..

This is such an awesome thread. I have to make time sometime to read all of these :D

A regular customer at the LFS I work at decided to ditch his African cichlids, and convert to SW. I was going through the basic steps with him on how to properly do this. When we finished he said "Okay, one last thing. If I put the Aragonite in the bottom of my tank, do I still have to buy Salt to mix in the water"?

I was at a LFS one day. I was looking at fish and I overheard this guy (who seems like he works there) talk to a customer. The customer apparently has a silver arowana in a 30 gal at the moment. The worker(?) was saying how the 30 gallon is way too small for an arowana, that it can grow up to 2 feet. "If you wanna keep an arowana for life, a 70 gallon is good." Yeah...

Later, I asked about plecos. He asked me what I had and I told him that I had oscars. He then insisted that I give them away so I can keep other fish. I was offended a little cuz I like my oscars. He told me to put my oscars in a 20 gallon... I wanted to keep a good relationship with the LFS cuz they have the most fancy plecos in the area, so I didn't flip out on his ignorance. I politely said, but they need a large tank. He said they only grow to about 1 feet, they can fit... He also told me that his parents had an oscar farm back in China.

His ignorance just pisses me off. I wonder what other bad advice he gave away...

last night i was just watching the fish minding my own business when an older man walked up to me and pointing at the tanks of feeder mice said, "And when those Iranians come over hear and attack us their gonna put you in a cage and sell you like that mouse". I almost died

Ah, the typical racist old man.

Well i got one.

Few days ago there was a guy and his mom bought an 8" oscar.
He brough the fish back the next day with a beat up fish(fins and fish body was badly damaged) and say we sold him a deasese fish and it about to die.

Me: what you have in your tank?
him: Some cichlids (synspilum) and over a foot long redtail cat.
Me: the oscar must getting beat up my your synspilums or the catfish try to eat him.
him: No, he's sick, look at him.
Me: yeah he look beat up. One of those fish you got at home must attacked him.
him: No, they were fine yesterday. the fish must have deseases.
me: The fish was fine in our tank and eat daily.

The guy got mad and called his mom for backup.

5 mins later.

Mom: ya sell us sick fish, look at the fish..
Me: He wasn't like this yesterday
mom: Am not spending money on a fish and die on us the next day.
Me: me too, but it's not our fault. the fish got beatup by your other fishes.
mom: I come here all the times and now ya making me hate this store. The fish look sick yesterday and barely swim. We got a 30 gallons and put him in there, today the fish looking like this.
Me: That's not what your son told me, he said the fish was in 75 gallons with the redtail catfish and other fishes.
mom: No, he's not. the fish was sick before he bough him.
me: If so, why bought him in the first place? How about am closing the store and we drive to another petstore and ask. Then you guys explaints the same as you just told me to see what they'll say. If they say the fish look sick, I will refund double the money back on what you paid for the fish, If they say the fish got beat up then leave us alone and take your fish home.

Then a customer walked in, look at the fish and said" Man, that fish got beat up bad"

mom and son walked out the store.

1 mins later son walked back in.

son: Can i put him in yall hospital tank in the back?.
me: yeah, but if he die then what? not gonna be on us.
son: ok
