Favorite LFS "CUSTOMER" STORIES ...

I'm really doubting some of these stories from some of you right now....How can a 20" Gar even fit in a 55gal, and given the shape the tanks were in still be alive?

Had a lady with puffers and Dragon Gobies when I told her they're brackish she said she knew but they turned gray when she added the salt. I asked her what the spec gravity was she said "The What the pH was the same"
 
A guy and his two kids come in...initially, pick out two goldfish while they are arguing whether or not they have a tank at home. Then they pick out two african cichlids...I asked if these are going in a separate tank? Nope, they will be fine! So they picked out pretty much the most elusive one...it took me a good 10-15 minutes to catch it. I finally get it into the container...wait, is that orange or yellow? Orange. Ohh no...I want two yellow ones. So...I dump the fish back and finally catch some yellow ones.
Then they ask for 10 feeder guppies...but make sure to get the bigger ones so they won't be eaten. I tell them they will get eaten by the africans...nope they will be fine. They picked out every single one they wanted, out of a tank of 500 or so. I was totally frustrated by the end of this fiasco, not to mention the kids were screaming and yelling the whole time.

Oscars are pretty docile fish if put with the right tank mates ;) unless you get that one rouge oscar from hell

no joke..the tanks there are the worst i have ever seen besides the salt tank they have. if im ever down that way again i will try and snap some pics for proof. if i can even find my way around the store..lmao

I was at my LFS yesterday. This giant brochis cory has had fin rot for a couple of weeks now on its left pectoral fin. Meds weren't doing much so I said, "Let's cut it off and just regrow that whole thing." And they jumped on it. Within ten minutes we had the catfish on the table, dipped some new clippers in their sterilizing solution, clipped off the diseased portion of the fin and superglued it to stop the bleeding. Fish held still for us the whole time and sprung right back to life when it hit the water, seeming no worse for the wear. I love my LFS.

This one kills me these days. I will agree with this statement when we are referring to wild caught rift lake African cichlids and wild caught Amazonian cichlids where there is a drastic difference in the water chemistry that they are used to. But considering that most cichlids of African and Central/South American descent are now raised in the same massive fish farms, using the same exact water chemistry, and be are being kept in the same LFS with the same tap water and they all look healthy and happy, why can't they live together due to water parameters? I've seen dozens of aquariums with African and American cichlids housed successfully together.

I can think of much better reasons to keep these cichlids seperate, such as diet in the case of keeping African Mbunas with SA/CA piscivores. But I think the water parameter argument is not valid anymore except in extreme cases such as with wild fish.
 
^ I have to agree with this - though there is always the expception. Many world renown discus keepers keep and breed their discus in 7.2 tap water.
 
Quite a few lfs horror stoiries, ive been realy lucky. I know the guy in charge of the fish section of a big local pet store, really knows his fish, has always given me discounts and freebies and been real helpfull. Mind you every dept of this pet store has people in charge that are top of their game.
