Favorite LFS "CUSTOMER" STORIES ...

well i'm sure there will be some fish rights people who flip out on me for allowing this but here's the story.

guy walks in and as typical just wants a dozen feeder goldfish so i start netting them out with him and his young son (maybe 3 or 4yr old) watching over.. then all of a sudden his son goes "daddy i want one", so his dad goes ok you can have one....then the boy sticks out his hand and asks if he can hold it, i look at the guy and he goes "is it ok " i tell him as long as he pays for it and hand the carrier thingy to the dad. he grabs a feeder out and hands it to his son who goes on to grab it,,, then put it in his pocket and walks away.. i found it kind of amusing but not near as amusing as the father's response which was while chuckling "haha o well, boys will be boys, he's going back to his mother's 2night anyway so it'll be a nice surprise for her"

thanks for sharing that, working in a petstore tends to make you a little insensitive, so would have done the same thing

i hate the little bratty kids who bang on the fish tanks...makes me so mad...also the parents fault for not caring.

so about banging on fish tanks, i go to a LFS, and this place is huge, and they have around 100 gallon tank w/ a 12" Silver Arowana. this guy was a BEAUTY! no drop eye or anything. so anyway some kid and his dad come into this section and the kid starts banging on the tank and the arowana was freaking out. i was scared myself that it would jump. just made me mad...and his dad just stood there watching...


also, when i was a beginner, i went to walmart looking for a new pleco, cuz they carried the small ones. i look at one and he was cool. so i asked to get him and this guy tries netting him and the pleco swims away and hides in a castle. the guy lifts up the castle and a bunch of dead fish bodies float out. like 20 corpses in a 10 gallon tank...really disgusting. i just said "nevermind" and walked away.

In the LFS I worked for in Brewster, NY, "Animal Kingdom", we would have kids who were interested in the pet industry who would 'help' us out for a day in the summer; these were called 'volunteers'. They were not paid as they were under-16, but again, 'helped' the rest of us out.

Worst. Idea. Ever.

Within one day of these tiny, american public school-educated morons, there were feeders ALL OVER THE FLOOR, worse than that, there were TRAMPLED FEEDERS!

I know there are a few 13year-olds on this site, but this was completely ****ing ridiculous!

There are few things I can think of that are worse than a fish being taken out of a tank and stomped upon, on purpose or not.
