Favorite LFS "CUSTOMER" STORIES ...

Cammo X, it's a Pinhead from the movie Freaks, otherwise only notable because a dwarf is portrayed by the same actor as Master (ala Master Blaster) from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

Amusing.

paopanlilio...it sounds to me like you were being rude because you weren't helped first, when someone else was ahead of you?

I can understand wanting to correct the misinformation given by the LFS...just seems to me you could have handled that better.

I understand why employees question cutomers. But when you go to LFS or PetSmart on a regular occasion and they question me, I want to punch them in the face.
I love it when they ask "How big is the tank?" "What kind of fish do you have?"
I answer them with tons of info after 5-10 min. they regret ever asking me.

As a matter of fact I bring my Laptop to the store to show them what my tank and pond look like. I dress comfortable, my wife says like a ho-bo so people assume I am an idiot! I know this is off topic but last year I went to Best Buy to get a Plasma-I was in shorts and a muscle shirt-no one wanted to help so I went to the front and they checked my credit. Once they knew that I had qualified for a Best Buy card and my limit was $3000 everyone was kissing my butt!

Shamrock - I feel your pain. Clothes do not make the man.
I have a Gandhian justification for this myself, if one wears the clothing of the poor, one cannot become full of oneself.
I fully intend to make my thesis presentation when I graduate in a t-shirt and jeans.

I know what you mean there. Whenever i go ANYWHERE i'm always the last one helped. I assume mainly because i'm a kid, and plus, with the combination of my hair, clothes, and eyes they assume i'm a stoner.

it's mandated by many chain stores to ask those questions (and one can be reprimanded for not doing so), and if you'd dealt with the majority of customers you'd understand why.
i swear people will never be happy, stores and their employees are irresponsible if they don't ask and sell an oscar for that big 20gal...but then knowledgable customers will turn around and get all uppity if you ask them questions....it's a no win situation....

and on a side note can we PLEASE STOP with the needless bumps all the time, it's getting a bit out of hand when there's a bump an hour after the last post

Had 2 calls tonight asking for help with products we don't even carry. Told them to call the retailer they bought it from.

Never worked in one, and its not that this was that stupid its just how it worked out.
I was buying a tarantula. After having read about the various breeds I went to Uncle bills and told them I wanted their one zebra. Guy gets the little cage out and opens it, then realizes he forgot the box. He walks off to get one with the cage still open, and before I can say anything. The punch line is that Zebras are arboreal. They can jump really, really far. This was on a Saturday afternoon and this large pet store was FILLED with people!

I cant describe the chaos, I'll just let you visualize. End of the story was the spider was ok after being recaptured, and I had him for about 6 years.

This isn't really a story, but the local pet shop has a tank about 4x2x2 and it's got 2 Barramundi both at least 45cm, and a freshwater Eel just as long. After seeing this tank, I'm not going to trust too much of what they say. But they do stock some good natives 8D
