I had someone come in yesterday for a water test on her cycling tank. She kept saying she had some dinos in there to cycle it. I was trying to throw the word danio everywhere I could, but she kept on saying dino. I almost asked if they were t-rex or stegosaurus, but this lady would have been even more confussed.

My lfs is closing down but a new one is buying up all their tanks, so Gary(LFS Guy) is checking out behind the tanks to clean up and found 8 inch snakehead from forever ago stuck to the wall. The store been around for at least 15 years so it must have been preban

Bare with me, it's long!

Went to my LFS a couple of weeks ago for new filters, heaters, etc, to setup the tank at my work properly as they finally caved and decided to give me some money for it. While i gathered the parts i needed my girlfriend went to look at the fish as she's just adopted one of my old small tanks and wanted some fish for it. She came running back through to where i was and said 'They have a catfish here i think you'll like, come have a look' and sure enough there was 3" rtcxtsn in a small tank actively swimming around. It was love at first site! Now, it was a busy day in the shop, kids running everywhere, and the normal knowledgable 'hippy' i spin dits with wasn't about, but the other long haired hippy (the manager) who knows me on sight too was. So i went up to him working the till and he said he'd send one of the guys over to help as he was stuck ringing stuff up as it was so busy. (stay with me, it's about to get good!) This young scrawny lad i'd never seen there before comes wandering over and asks what fish i'd like. 'Can i get the rtcxtsn hybrid there please?' I say. He replies: 'How many would you like?'............... This took me by suprise as i expected to be asked what size home he was going to due to the size he's going to grow to as this guy had never served me before and that you'd have to be slightly tapped to even get just one anyway! So i replied 'Erm.......... just the one, i can only see one right now.' He did say he thought he saw 2 earlier so moved a rock and second scrawny little one kinda shuffled into view. Had to give him that one. So he bags the active fish for me. As i mentioned earlier, my girlfriend is setting up a small tank and she fancied getting a pleco for it, but not one that gets too big, so i asked the guy as he finishes bagging the rtcxtsn 'Do you have any bristle nose plecs in at the moment?' I gave up after his reply of: 'No i don't think we have any bristle nose plecs, we do have some bristle nose catfish tho.'

I went back a couple of days later when it was quiet and had a laugh about it with the knowledgable hippy, he said he'd have words with that employee and educate him a bit more! He was just thankful it was me that bought the hybrid and not some poor unsuspecting fool.

lest all their fish die, and before they leave the hobby out of anger, disappointment, or failure.

Now maybe I'll be able to buy a SW tank on craigslist this summer :grinno:

Had a guy come in tonight and we got to talking about his fish! He said he had 4 dinner plate size pacus and 2 full grown oscars. I said "wow you must have a big tank!" He said "Yeah it's huge!" "How many gallons?" I say. "55!!!" He says. He went on to say he wanted another pacu. We're not allowed to tell a customer no. I tried for 20 minutes to talk him out of it but he wasn't having it he bought one anyway!
