Favorite LFS "CUSTOMER" STORIES ...

haven't we all had that experience where you are in the LFS and you over-hear stupidity taking place?

what do you do? do you get involved, or do you just let the insanity continue?

personally, if it's something I actually know about, I try to offer some friendly advice . . . doesn't always work, but I've been surprised how often it does
 
i went into a local lfs in a town i was vacationing in in colorado ... there was a large display tank with the 2 of the biggest frontosas ive ever seen along with some blood parrots, another central american i cant identify, and around 30 misc africans... btw these were not for sale

so anyway i went through the store and they had 2 very large gars, an rtc, and a tsn in a 55 gallon plus some 10 to 12 inch fish i couldnt identify (looked like some kind of fh) , the gar had to angle himself upward and work for about 5 min to turn himself around. so i started talking to the guy who worked there

i asked - hey whats that large fish
he said - a chicklid
i - huh?
he - a chicklid
i - what kind of cichlid
he- thats not a cichlid its a chicklid, we have a lot of them here, check out the
display tank
i - ummm ok
he - so you want the chicklid or some of the smaller chicklids (pointing to some tetras)
i - no thanks
he - check out these orange things with the black stripes. they are some kind of
tiger chicklid
I - huh?
he - (points to the clown loaches) them

at this point i just turned around and left

not really a fish story...but a customer story. the other day at work, a guy walks in, goes to the bathroom, and leaves. the next day, he does the same thing, only this time, he decided to take a dump on the floor of our bathroom cover it with toilet paper and paper towels, and then leave. those 2 times were the only times i have ever seen this guy come in. and of course, guess who was elected to clean it up...

You should turned around and told him what was what.

This happened today, a guy came in going " i need a fish, i need a fish", he looked like a bikey, tats, beard and all that.

So i said "ok come this way" and showed him our Fighters cause he wanted a bowl.

He was walking over, and i said " which one would you like" he said " I WANT A PRETTY ONE!

And then this guy my co-worker was serving cracked up laughing! and he couldnt stop. And the guy i was serving said " its for my lawyers daughter", but the other guy kept laughing, lol.

So then i bagged up the fish and some water, went out and found a bowl. As he was leaving he said "cheers mate, this should keep my son out of jail" I was like wtf?

So yer that was my eventful day lol

Also i think its funny when people come in and say " yer i like the big black ones" when they are pointing at large blackmoor's. Haha makes me crack up, they have a laugh aswel.....

I owned a LFS for several years and boy does this bring back memories... why wont these tetrs go with my oscar? i want a nemo fish and a pleco... how many nemos can i put in my 10g... Why wont u sell me that nurse shark i have a 55 gal tank. Way too many to list...
 
this reminds me of when i was eight years old. my parents had a 175 gallon with an oscar a pacu a pleco two bala sharks and two breeding parrot cichlids. i went to petsmart one day after school and told the guy that i had the biggest prettiest tank in the whole world and it all the fish in it looked boring and i came home with two pretty little sailfin mollies i bought with my allowance.
needless to say they were food within the week
