wtf does bump mean???????

to "bump" the discussion back to the top of the forum list

Had someone insisting me the other day (I work at a pet store part-time for fun) that he had a yellow tang in a glass bowl and wanted another one. Took me nearly thirty minutes to convince him it'd die in like five minutes.

Idiots.

Not related to fish really but i saw a guy in my lfs the other day, he bought something like 200 mice! He walked out of the store with a big box. I wonder what he was feedin...:headbang2

If only people realized that a goldfish has the same capacity for learning and bonding as their golden retriever...

If you can get your goldfish to counter surf, fetch whatever you hide or throw and follow you from room to room I'll agree. Until that time the golden retriever wins, or loses, depending on whether you have one.

Not a customer story, but I had a heck of a day at work today.

We have lots of other pets beside fish as well. While I was doing the morning cleanings and feedings today, a full grown (feeder) rat bit the-insert expletive of choice-out of me. I've been bit by plenty of other rodents (hamster just yesterday), but this was by FAR the worst. She bit to the BONE on my pinky finger and I couldn't get it to stop gushing blood for over an hour. Not fun!

If that wasn't enough, I did a waterchange on a tank where another employee complained of getting shocked. One of the heaters in the tank tripped the breaker yesterday, so I thought removing that fixed the problem. I had just added Coppersafe for some ich on a couple of the fish, which I'm guessing made the water more conductive, so when I put my hand back in the water as it was refilling, I found out the OTHER heater was also broken, and nearly fell of the small stepladder I was on when it shocked the heck out of me.

I never actually thought I'd see a LFS story like these . . . today, getting some supplies, a girl asks the clerk: "I have this bowl at home. Can I keep a goldfish in plain tap water?"

The clerk agreed. Nobody mentioned water conditioner or chlorine. I didn't butt in. It just seemed like picking a pointless argument.

It's not a real shocker, I just never really expected to hear a conversation like the ones in this thread.
