Rainbow Cichlids are my favorite Cichlid. Never disprespect.

Well... I don't work at an LFS nor do I own one... but I love going there... And this one won't really be funny... One such incident happened in my favorite place here... Cartimar Pet Center, where there are a lot of pet shops all clustered together, selling all manner of fish... Aros, Goldfish, too the exotic ones that you'll only encounter there...

So anyways... here, a lot of Parishes have good set ups and are maintained personally by the priests there... I was at Cartimar, and I saw these Discus fry selling for an equivallent of about 5 USD, but their color were not too good, so as I was about to leave, I hear some guy clad in black, with a rosary dangling on his neck, and the word "father" spoken by the LFS people, so I thought "That explains the rosary." He was with two other ladies, aged about 40 or 50, inquiring about Flowerhorn food and buying a tank. She was handed a can XO Super Red Syn and told that everything, hump huncher, and color enhancer was there... I just hoped she would not feed that daily... Father did a follow up and said that she should buy a 75G set up so she need not to change set up... again... I hoped that father doesn't keep silver aros in 75G... When she asked father about the albino Oscar fry. Father's reply... "Maybe those are red slipmouth fish." I just replied "Those are Oscars." (of course, in the most polite tone that this nation's youth can offer) "Ah so those are Oscars."

I dont work at a lfs store but my brother does and he always tells me stories for S&Gs but he says people always come in and ask if african CHICK LEDS can stay with goldfish and whatnot. Also the other day I was at greentree to pick up some filter material and some african chick leds, jk and i saw this older couple asking each other if africans were salt or freshwater, i was so mad i couldnt satay and longer I just had to get my stuff and leave. He just replies with "well we got a big enough tank". I bet it was like a 30 gallon. ROFL

It youre a fishkeeping noob, some of the more colorful africans can look like sw fish.
Still funny tho.

As we stock a large amount of tankbred and wild caught african cichlids i get 'are those marine' very often
its understandable that noobs could think theyre marine, with all that color.

x2 . . . . if I wanted to have a tank that looked like SW, I'd stock it with Africans, not SA/CA . . . from a pure appearance standpoint, I think Africans come way closer to looking "marine" than New World cichlids

Rainbows are great, but they do have a bit of a Rodney Dangerfield complex (i.e., no respect) . . . I recently traded in 5 Rainbows at the only LFS that would take them . . . that particular LFS is well-run, but can't compete with the Petco up the street . . .
