Feeding?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Awesome, done, thanks. One more question. My tap water's ph has risen to 8.4. My tanks oh is sitting between 7.2-7.4 after wc. Usually is 7.4, tap is usually 7.4-7.6. Any clue to why the ph in my tap is higher than usual? And will this effect my tank? Nitrites are still just as high after all these wc. Salt must be working cuz my rays seem very healthy and active. I think it may be affecting my.mickey mouse cuz he is staying in the lower levels. (Which is going to make him food very quickly) the few remaining other fish(Tetras) don't seem to be bothered.

I just can't wait to get the new filter set up, I know it will make a world of difference.

Anything?

And this wc seemed to really stress my rays out. They haven't moved since. Breathing but buried and in the same spots. Am I stressing myself out unnecessarily? It was a bigger wc than u have been doing, and I stirred the sand up more than usual, but I really needed to do a good cleaning.

I have two small children with severe asthma, and I stress about these two rays like I stress about my kids breathing! I need a drink lol and I don't even drink!

Is 7.4 good or too high? That's been pretty consistent with the one exception where is dipped low, but it was normal again a few hours later, so I dunno what that was about. I test twice a day, in the morning and after a wc. Parameters have been very consistent for a week now.

Tap ph is just abnormally high right now, but I don't test it often, something just told me to test it today.

Ph does not matter too much if its high or low, consistent is the key. I have not really seen my tap change but I'm like you I don't test it really ever. Your tank should be what your tap is because of the water changes

Yep, I put the salt back. I tested my tap again, out of curiosity, and it was back to normal. Both tank and faucet are 7.4. I have no.clue, maybe I added an extra drop by accident or something, who knows.

Rays are active now, I think they just got freaked out from me digging all in the tank, messing with that stupid foam block n plants n stuff.

If I could just get these.Nitrites under control all would be ok I think. Seems no.matter how often I do wc it's no help? The fx5 will surely help though, right?

Omg. F'n petco sent me a freaking 406 instead of the fx5 that I paid for. I'm so mad right now. And I have spent 2+ hours on the phone for them to tell me that they are all sold out of them and cannot ship me my correct product until next week at the earliest. WTF?

I have spent my entire day trying to find one in a store local. 1 store keeps them in stock and they are $390. I cannot pay that much. I just paid 250 for the one I didn't receive. No way. Apparently they all get them directly from fluval and they are charged almost 400$ a piece, so because of chain stores, they cannot afford to sell them. Whatever. I bought all the media this morning, expecting to put it in when I got home. I got played. I am just gonna get a refund from petco (plus a 50$ gift card) and gonna find one on eBay or something. Anyone recommend any reliable quality online stores I can buy one from?

Super mad right now :/

wow. to OP.. tons of really helpful advice here from many decent members.. I think you will have learnt a lot through this experience.

if your playing catch up with cycling tank... then I STRONGLY recommend seachum stability.
this cycles tank really quickly. .. I used it on my new tank ages ago.... and I started adding fish on day one...
most of my canisters BB died as it took me ages to set up the tank. so I cleaned out my filters. .. hooked them all up.. added seachum stability and moved my fish across.
