Yes regular plastic pot scrubbers and yeah dollar stores should have 'em although I've always ended up getting them shipped 'cos I use them in larger quantities and finding dollar stores by me that have 'em has been frustrating.

IMO you won't need 'em day 1 as the sponges and ceramic should get you where you need to be but it won't hurt to have more space for bacteria to populate going forward.

Mine are super happy to eat 3/4 of a lb every other night. They love shrimp, its all gone so so fast, they will come to love it.

Side note, rays hate shrimp.

I just found em at my dollar store. I bought like 5 packs. How often do they need changed?

Not changed, Washed a little only, and all depends on fish load and when they get too dirty.

3/4 lb. Omg, that's a lot lol. Being lent and all, I caught a great sale on shrimp, the really big ones. So I bought a few pounds. So I cut one up small and mix it with the worms, let it marinate, then put it in, but they act like they r gonna eat it, but end up ignoring it. I'm gonna keep trying though, hopefully they get it soon. Cause I really love shrimp and seeing it in my freezer everyday is quite tempting lol.

Some of my rays took weeks to switch off worms, just a matter of patience. Tilapia and Smelt are also popular and tend to be cheaper than shrimp but again they'll take time to switch.

Do with the pot scrubbers as you did with the sponge - occasionally squeeze in some old tank water you're removing. It's vaguely possible they'll eventually disintegrate but you're talking years.

Just keep working at it they will take, ya I get about 4 pounds ever 1.5 weeks. Allot of shrimp and then talapia the other days and pellets thrown in as a mix for fish and rays for other nutrition
