Festae- Quality VS Trash!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
LOL, a Quasi Moto Festae.

Like I've said it before, both privately and publicly...Stop putting too much emphasis on Wild Caught labels when its irrelevant for the most part. Just like people paying $$$ for truffles and instead getting the cheapy truffles.

I know of people purposely selling Inbred fishes as WC just because they have built a reputation selling hundreds of cichlids and sporting a nice website to show legitimacy. What a waste of my knowledge and as well as having tainted my own reputation as a hobbyist...because NO ONE gives a Poop.

thats a good point about wild caught fish . it really is irrelevant cause all aquarium fish are wild caught or descendants of wild caught fish.most sellers will over emphasize the "wild caught" part as an excuse to sell them for more money . i do believe there is a few good breeders and sellers that do sell true wild caught fish like jeff rapps for example but there is those few that breed them in an aquarium and sell them as wild caught. i've seen a guy a while back trying to sell me some gt fry as wild caught fry but i later found out the parents were actually wild caught and the fry were tank raised . smfh

I bought a group of grow out Festae back in September all about an inch. They seemed to be pretty good but one of them ended up being like this.
It's got that huge hump and what seems to be short body? The thing is, I never caught the hump until recently. Maybe it was too small for me to notice. It's out competed all the other grow outs and has grown the most by far. The thing has also killed 2 of the others. I will probably never let it breed...but it's interesting to look at.

I have no words!:lipsseale

Damn DATS FuNEEEEEE!

Good points though, I have to disagree that no one gives a poop. There are many Purist in this hobby and in life.
I am sure that you wouldn't apply your logic to a BMW manufactured in America as opposed to one made in Germany.

great thread....................................................................................... for a laugh

Who knows what's actually going on down there? Maybe they're growing out WC fish in vats or maybe they're breeding them and they aren't wild, maybe they're getting around laws...

Live animal EXPORTATION is banned. Collecting is not an option.:headshake

I wasn't aware that exporting out of Ecuador was now illegal. Seems like most of the wild fish I've seen have been transhipped but come to think of it...it's been a couple of years.

The number of "wild" fish on the market will meet the demands of people seeking wild fish in the market, whether the fish are actually wild or not.
BINGO! Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding!:liar:

So i was correct that the exportation of fish from Ecuador is banned... Ok, so the point Dog of war made about "The number of "wild" fish on the market will meet the demands of people seeking wild fish in the market, whether the fish are actually wild or not." Makes more sense to me now and may prove why i see people claiming to have young F0 ecuador festae LOl...
