Festae really have nice colors but they don't have the whole parachromis thing going for them like motaguense have lol.

As long as it is the Red strain of the Red Tiger Motas, I pick the Red Tigers, the red strain Mota's are hard to find......

the gold strain are hard to find.. Everywhere has red tiger motas right now.

I see you're from Michigan, I live in CA and I have never seen a Red strain Red Tiger in a LFS......I have however seen a lot of the gold/yellow Motaguense in the LFS around the Bay Area.....

I own 3 male and 5 female festae , have a jag and dovii - actually on the second jaguar. 1st one was murdered by a festae. Never seen a Tiger Mota up close nor do I know the temperment. hopefully their more agressive than the 2 parachromis I own.

The dovii's got personality but is the sub in a 75 gal tank w/ a M Salvini and M Green Texas. The Jag holds his own against a pack of wild hunger ferocious Firemouths (ya right) the biggest fish in that tank is a Green Terror which is the biggest sissy fish I've ever owned.................if i dropped my alpha Red terror in either tank I'd have one Red Terror beat to hades and one Salvini left so...............

True Red Terror all the way.

Festae. Although I like both, IMO the Festae is one of the pettiest cichlids there is. However, both of them are two of my favorite cichlids.

there she is a few months ago

WOW. How big was she at the time? and was she from a Rapps order about...5 months ago?

That is seriously the reddest Ive ever seen...and the most coverage of red that Ive ever seen.

I've got a female festae and 2 female RT motags in the same 100 gal tank, little nippy but nothing serious.

There was a male in the tank, and that didn't work well, so he's with his fry and a female in another tank.

I wouldn't pair up either. The males get way too mean and you will have to separate them after breeding. I'd go with a female Festae & a female Red Tiger. Best of both worlds!!!

Festae! They're one of the smartest fish I have ever seen.

I had one Festae, and I'll never forget him. He would see me walk into the room and he would pick up a rock in his mouth and start knocking on the glass like,"Dude, where is the buffet?"
