fh w/ broken back?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well, no change, I held him up for a while , he definently prefers to layover to one side, wouldnt eat did try to swim a bit but wil quickly flip over when let go of, funny part is he still wants to bite at me when I shake my head at him , so he still seems to have his sense of humor, I am seeing a bit of discolored poo , a little stringy, his mate is perfectly fine though, amazingly gentle with him considering how they bicker back and forth, I added some salt a water change I guess as long as his condition doesnt get any worse I,ll leave him be

Try epsom salt. Gives him the poops. Will clean him out.

i would try the salt treatment and if nothing, clove oil sorry

he tries to flip up but just uses side front fins , did see him use his back tail but not much at all, sorry about the pic size
I would try to get him in another tank so the other fish won't bother him ! some guy in Vietnam had used garlic put in food to feed their fish but I'm not sure about it. Right now I only know to put more salt in water. Hope he get better!
PS: I think this fish is diamond X red dragon, not a red dragon !

Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) acts as a purgative & will reduce fluid retention, which is what you want.

Regular salt (sodium chloride) will cause fluid retention, which is what you don't want.

The amount of metro that you fed your fish wouldn't have caused this, organ damage is only caused by excessive prolonged use.

You cant fix a broken back with epson salt. My big guy broke his back and three days later he was dead.

Who said that you could?

At this point it's not 100% certain that this fishes back is even broken.
I've seen fish flop around on the bottom that was not caused by any type of spinal injury. Obviously if it's a broken back it's titters.

Sorry about your flowerhorn, good to see you are not one of those hybrid bashers.
