Same can be said about gravel. How do you even know what it looks like, you ever try it?

Spellcheck?;)

Gravels are too much work for me.. I'd just recently removed all my black & white gravels from my tank & planned to replace them with red gravels.. but in the end, it's just too much work for me.. I've SMA disease & can only do things with my left arm.. just to let you know why I keep insisting on not using gravels.. + I can get filter pads in big pieces & just stuff them in the tank to cover the bottom.. My main objective is to prevent my flowerhorn from seeing the white styrofoam beneath the tank..
Filter pads are the next best thing that I could think of after slate tiles(which I couldn't get)..
As for the unattractiveness of filter pads, there's several colours to choose from so I wouldn't say it's unattractive + it's just one layer.. how weird could it be? If you ask me, I'd say it's easier to clean & maintain than gravel.. & I could just replace them whenever the filter pads get dirty or mushy..
Well, that's the whole idea I came up with.. if anyone has better suggestions, I would love to hear them.. (painting the bottom / replacing the styrofoam / use sand / use gravels are clearly out of the picture)

There has to be some kind of tile available to you. I think tile would be a much better choice. I'm not sure the filter pad would even sink to the bottom, you'd probably have to weigh it down in several spots with objects. Sounds like a hassle.

Yeah, it's the sinking part that I'm unsure of.. but I've seen LFS use this method in their saltwater tanks with nothing to weigh the pads down..
Well, I could go with bare bottoms if the white styrofoam isn't affecting my fh colour..

Give the filter pad a try and if ya don't see a difference with your FH's color you can easily remove the filter pad.

Thx for the encouragement.. I should probably get it by this weekend or the next.. What colour do you think I should get? I think they have yellow, blue & black..
