  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i se that cool very nice

i like it! and even if the air comes out up the back.. its still moving the water around the pad, therefor creating conditions for good bacteria to live in the filter pads? :)

Doesn't look near as bad as I figured it would. Good solution to your problem. Keep us updated on how often you have to change it and what about vaccuming? Does the FH like it?

Thx guys.. :headbang2

I haven't started vaccuming yet as they were clean when I stuffed them in.. will do that next weekend as I do maintenance once a week..
I'm not really sure whether he likes it but he seems normal.. (he used to try biting the bottom tank a lot but now he won't feel as pain coz he has a soft bedding for him to 'attack'..)

The only thing i dont understand, if you are going to vacuum and change the pads out regularly, how did you save yourself trouble over using gravel. You dont have to change out gravel, and is vacuumed easy. i think this whole process was more work than just leaving gravel in it.

^I agree. Or even just a thin layer of sand? All you have to do is stir it up a bit.

I guess the fish waste will be easier to spot on the surface of the pads than gravel.. & even if I need to change the pads, that would be in maybe half year or so.. & actually the process is very simple, cut the pads & stuff them in(after rinsing).. I might do it at a slower pace due to the fact that I can only use one arm.. ;)

My fh likes to trash things around.. I wouldn't want to get sands in my pumps & filters..
