I love this tank o____0 It's so awesome and beautiful

I had a few questions....

What kind of media are you using in your canister?
Did you ever get any otocinclus? I heard you say you were going to get one. From experience i know that if you only get one it will inevitably die, so i would get about 10 or so
I use Rema bio stars in the center tray and I also have some ceramic rings. There is a 4 sponges in the bottom trays, and I cut HBH filter pads to fit the top tray and stack 3 in each canister.

I never got ottocinclus and have decided not to. The are known to suck on Discus and I want all tank inhabitants to be compatible with my Discus. Here is what I plan to add April 2st...
4 True Siamese Algae Eaters/ (SAE) Crossocheilus siamensis
1 Twig Catfish/ Farlowella acus
6 Redline Shark/ Puntius denisonii
10 Zebra Nerite Snails/ Neritina natalensis
20 Amano Shrimp

Tank is coming along great, and the discus are gorgous. It's gonna look awesome with the canopy. Very "professional" looking. Two thumbs up! Keep pics coming.

You are so kind....I have a surprise.......check out the next post. ;)

I got a pleasant surprise Tuesday. My son had taken the day off and brought the canopy to install. He added magnetic door stops to the base cabinet doors and we dedided not to use any door pulls because I liked the clean look after he added the fancy trim above the doors. The canopy face is on a piano hinge. The whole thing flips up to reveal the lights, lunar lights, and a fan. The canopy box is 19 inches tall, with a clearance above the tank of 15.5 inches; enough clearance that I can open the front glass and even the back glass top could be flipped open, there is a lot of room in there. I bought 2 Belkin heavy duty metal cased 8 plug- in thingies with surge protectors yesterday at home depot and hung them on the wall behind the canopy this morning. Everything is plugged in nice and high to avoid any water. It is totally finished except for the trim that closes the gap between the tank and the stand walls, (which Chris had finished but forgot to bring). I hope I can stop staring at it long enough to at least blink ocasionally  ....I love it!! I'll be stripping that stupid wallpaper off in the near future. Why I did not do it before I have no idea!! :grinno:

Before the canopy went on I had to trim back the Ulvaceous monster....it was acting like a dam and stopping the floating plants from moving.
48 inch yard stick.

Thanks Jason...I think I finally kicked the Staghorn algae problem too. I took out the big piece of wood before my son put the canopy on and poured hydrogen peroxide all over it, let it sit for a few minutes them scrubbed it clean with a hard bristled brush. Then I pulled all of the dwarf saggatteria and painstakingly pulled off evey effected leaf leaving only the center one or 2 clean leaves and replanted them, cut off all affected leaves of other plants, then left the lights off for 36 hours. I have seen no signs of its return and that was Monday. My CO2 levels ahve read nice and high, and the PPS-Pro fertz are doing their job. I think we are reaching the point of being balanced...at least until the next algae surprise!! LOL
