First group of Discus.. some advice

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Crap, Sorry I've been studying for exams for the past 12 hours so my reading is a bit blurred..

Well, I honestly don't understand the point of asking for advice if you didn't care how they were going to be. Try ancient fish. Aro's, gars, polypterus. They don't require such high maintenance like Discus do. Doing 100% water changes does not harm fish. I mean, if it did, then I guess the Discus breeders all over Germany and Asia are a bunch of idiots then. However, it will harm them if pH was not stable and other additives are not removed from tap water. I am done here. Good luck.
Some people ask advice just to hear what they want to hear. No matter how many people tell them otherwise. At that point its time to just say good luck with your fish and tell them where the disease section is located at for future referance. ;)
All your advice has been pretty much spot on. If the op does not wish to see then its his choice right?

lets "study" together ;) lol but the asians are doing more than just 100% lol theyre doing 200% daily. i believe forrest drains his tanks untill the fish are literally flopping around. too intense for my comfort but his quality speaks LOUDER than words. a picture is worth a thousand words but a picture of his fish is priceless

I believe my avatar has got you fooled. I am the opposite sex of what my avatar is. Awkward.. LOLOL

i was talking about buying new fish what kind of "studying" was YOU thinking. dirt mind lol

Agreed!!! I have kept many delicate fish and without problems. I know you can do full water change without issues.. I'm saying it's not good for the system. You never allow it to cycle and let the bacteria's fight off the toxins in your water?? These fish do come from SA rivers!! I will bookmark the disease section since my fish will die because I won't empty the tank daily lol Thanks for all the help and advice. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

Yes they come from rivers that discharge 100,000+ gallons per second into the ocean. You really think the bb has problems there? They come from places that get a constant supply of fresh water. Not recycled water.
Haha I should find the pics of my 1st discus when I thought that high water quality was good water parameters. I had some nice BIG dozer of 3.5-4" discus lol.

FOUND ONE. lol
This was the biggest juvie I had raised at 4". Sad this little fish had potential to be a nice nice fish.
