very good reply. i too thought about discus in the past, but like u just said the xtra work/time they need, its not for me i went with angles as a 2nd choice,even tho discus are my fav im just too lazy to keep them ,had about 2 years morning when my angles pasted, now i got sds seems i like the disk shape

you must not know how water company get their water. reason for chlorine in our water? its because its recycled water! but i agree on the water change. there really is not excuse for nt doing water change every day if youre keeping discus. i have adults as well as juvies and i change their water the same amount. i suggest investing in an aqueon water changer. best investment you can make. i change 5 tank everyday without breaking a sweat and no im not talking 55's im talking 125+
Thanks for your help.. i have given up on the other guy just trying to be an A hole.. I did research on the fish.. a lot of fish write ups contradict each other and are misleading.. So i came here for advice. I have a aqueon water changer.. it's great! I have six tanks.. my 100g is one of the smallest. I keep rays, and rare piranha that are very demanding.. have never had an issue with them. I'm going to add a few more and see how it goes for me. I will up my wc interval.. I'm not doing them everyday.. if that does not work for these fish.. then I won't get anymore.. I have drank the water I'm changing from these guys tanks actually.. cause a write up said it needs to be clean enough to drink.. so I have.. very pristine water.
sorry man,but you have to keep in mind that you need to really really study and ask more experienced keepers before you spend money for fancy fish. temp is off and always add a decent amount of fish especially if they are aggressive. from mbunas to discus. more research man.ive been down this road before. good luck
yea man i have mobas and wc demasoni mbunas, and assorted discus. i buy from the same breeders so yeah. but i would love a deal for 55-78$ lol. hook me up.
you mention that if these dont go well you wont be getting more. well i hate to burst bubbles but theydidnt started out well. so no matter what you do you wont end up ahead, thats why i suggest starting over on quality stock. between 55-78 buck per fish you could have gotten super quality ones from kenny.most gets discourage from keeping discus by buying bad ones from the star. there are many approach to raising discus but the number one rule is start with a nice quality one. also anything under 4 inch should be put in bare bottom tank for easy cleaning. if you hate the look of bare bottom then i suggest starting with discus over 4 inches.
It has started out just fine for me.. I have colorful active fish that i love lol.. they are not the perfect discus like you guys keep.. but it doesn't matter to me.. lol I'm not a discus fanatic, I am on rays and piranha and a perfect specimen would matter to me with them. these fish it does not matter as much to me, they are just fish to fill a tank and watch swim. Kinda like getting a perfect goldfish lol. to most it does not matter they just want a fish ha ha..
no discus is perfect unless its a show discus what im getting at is you will soon have sick fish, defrm fish and fish that when you look at you wonder why other like it. stunted isnt just that they wont grow it affects their health.
